Armin - Blue Fear is a great oldie indeed Wink love that swirling melody and it doesn't sound like armin's recent tracks at all hehe Smile

others :
three 'n one - reflect
energy 52 - cafe del mar (three'n one remix)
astroline - take good care
absolom - baby boomers
komakino - man on mars (dj jan remix)
limited growth - no fate (quadran remix)
moon project - naked fantasy (dj philip remix)
fiocco - afflitto

some real classics here Wink there must be more, but these came to mind at the moment Wink

cheers!
LW

cosmic gate - mental atmosphere (beam and cyrus remix) (the day I arrived in germany)

green court - moonflight (essential club mix) (the next day, and by then I was hooked)

I'm not entirely sure if it was the first one I heard, but it was the first one that made me addicted to trance:

Astral Projection - People Can Fly

It's still my favourite track Smile

I think it was out in 1996 and was played a lot on MTV Europe and VIVA...I remember the really cool 3d-animated video for it Very Happy

I was gonna list Insomnia & their earlier [and best] tune 'Salva Mea' remember it? But i class them as a more housey style. Still massive tunes though! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Do u remember the other Stretch & Vern tune? "Get Up, Go Insaine!!!!" they sampled House Of Pain's "Jump Around". Awesome record! Very Happy Also, do u remember the Fatboy Slim remix of Im Alive? That has to be the best thing hes ever done! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Arrrr, memories....

It was a Man with No Name track, although I don't remember the name of the track. Second track was Astral Projection's Enlightened Evolution, followed by the Oakenfold remix of Olive's You're Not Alone.

All off a site called the Temple, one of the first mp3 sites on the net. So underground, it existed only as an IP address. I'd spend like 5 hours on a 14.4 to get one track!

erm good question, probably these mainly. but a progression from happy hardcore/rave really got me into trance stuff mainly around 97

cafe del mar (the orignal)
bt- flaming june (not really trance though)
3 Drives- Greece 2000 (the first version that was released)
Push- Universal Nation
binary finary (the first one released
chicane- offshore
AmenUK- Passion (pvd mix)
camisra- let me show you (is it trance not sure)
ayla- ayla
HUMATE- LOVE STIMULATION!!!!!!
Naylin and Kane- Beach Ball

then the later ones:

Verecocha- Carte Blanche
Blue Adonis- Disco Kop
VDM- Orion city
Armin- Comunication
rank 1- airwave
4strings- daytime
dutch force- deadline
system f- out the blue
blank and jones- cream
Transcend- Cascade
Pulp Victim- The world 99
svenson- clubbing on sunshine
Lovechild- Liberta

but the best trance (from the 97-2000 where trance peaked) albums ive got are probably:

Innercity 99- Ferry Corsten
Gatecrasher- Black and Red
Platinum- mixed by Scott Bond & John Kelly

Robert Miles - Children in 1997, still got that cd with childern, one and one, and 4Us, wow, still can sweep me off my feet that tune after all this time

same with BBE, sven days and 1 week, and chicane - saltwater
then i heard 9pm ,

First ferry corsten tune was Ayumi Hamasaki - Whatever (Ferry Corsten Remix),
but odd thing was, at that time when i heard them, i did not associate any of them as Trance, but i knew it was kickass music, kinda thought it was a dance Surprised doh, stupid me, when i look back

now zip forward all the way to last few days of feb 2002 , mate reconmended me a few tunes, and fully introduced me to trance Very Happy , finally i knew what it was

first was nu-nrg - dreamland, wow what a tune to start with, by end of that day, i got thro enough quality stuff

Aria – Dido (Armin Mix)
Delerium - Silence (Airscape mix)
Gouryella - Tenshi
Gaia – 4 Elements
Push – Till We Meet Again
Push – Universal Nation
Push – Strange World
System F - Elevate
System F - The Game
System F - Solstice
System F - Out of the Blue
System F - Exhale

and few others!

so thats pretty much the first tunes, that i knew i was listening to trance Very Happy

Gotta add something to my previous post Smile

Also early songs I heard:

Mory Kanté - Yeke Yeke (released early 1995, thanks DJ Imy for reminding me on this one)

and Roos - Instant Moments....great track!

of course the songs you have mentioned above are good classics too Wink

was on my boss's computer at work listening to shoutcast, and Oakies EM at space, Ibiza was on. the tune that got me hooked was:

Brainchild-Symmetry C(Lange's Breakbeat Mix)

That's what got me started into listening to more trance tunes.

I remember hearing tunes like Gouryella, 1999, For an Angel, etc. when I didn't realy know what trance was, I liked the little I heard, but I never thought too much about it until tunes Better Off Alone, 9PM and Sandstorm came out. My interest level increased drastically and when Hurley and Todd - Sunstorm and Angelic - It's My Turn came out, I was totally converted.
