Hello!
Just thought I'd write a proper opener here.
I'm an American Trance DJ in Los Angeles. Home to 2 very well respected clubs-GIANT and Spundae. Just about every weekend here I'm treated to some of the world's finest talent. John OO Fleming graces the decks at GIANT on saturday. Needless to say, I'm excited.
I was wondering if any of you were here Stateside on the West Coast. I see many of you are from other parts of the world, which is tremendous!
I love trance. What can I say? It's the best type of EDM around IMHO. I'm really into Armin and Ferry of coarse. Tiesto honestly bored me his last 2 outings, although his production is still ok. I'm done w/ Oakey although I respect him. You kind of have to. Look at his past. PVD is hit/miss. Most of his productions are top notch. I love the simplicity. It's SO effective. Airwave simply make some of the best tracks I've heard. Solar Stone, both thier early offerings (The Calling) and thier more recent (Seven Cities) amaze me. The V-One Remix of it is almost perfect. Seafield from 1997, thier Feel Free original is up there just behind BBE's Seven Days and One Week. Beautiful, epic, and big. I love it!
Unfortunately, I'm WAY behind in the digital age, so I don't have any MP3s or streaming audio to send. I still do it the old fashioned way-the promo. If you are into any of the groups of fine musicians above, I think you'll enjoy what I have to offer. Kindly send me a private email to djdonnyyoung@hotmail.com and I'll sort you out.
warmest regards
donny young/los angeles

Welcome to [i:Vibes] LAClubber! We need some more people from other parts of the world than Europe (and especially UK...hehe... ) to get some more views of the global music-scene!
Hope you will have a good time here

Hey LAclubber! I'm new too, and American (small world huh). Rather then make a whole new post on me I figured I'd just introduce myself here too. Yeah, Giant, and Spundae seem great! I've never been to them, but I'm going to enter the "next on the decks" contest through BPM magazine, where the 1st place prize is a trip to California and an opening spot at Spundae
I'm from Virginia in America. I LOVE trance too, and like you guys "above and beyond" are my favorite remixers... it seems everything they do is amazing. I've been listening to trance for only 2 years, but I've really imersed myself in it, so I feel like a made up for some lost time. Summer of 2000 was my formal introduction to trance on a trip to Germany, which was a total epiphany in my musical taste development. I'm a new dj still looking for my first gig, but I know it'll happen soon. My main influences are Paul van Dyk, Above and Beyond, Armin, Ferry, a little Tiesto, and more recently Mark Norman and Marco V. In Virginia people are all into progressive house, dnb, and funky breaks, so epic/melodic trance doesn't get the respect it deserves... but I'm trying to change that.

Yep like Rank 1- Airwave, Matt Darey- Fly like and Angel, system F- out of the blue, Svenson- Clubbin on sunshine, Vincent de Moor- Orion City(moonman re-mix) dj mantha- holding on...to name but a few
99/2000 certainly the best years of trance.....i wish them days would come back...but the tune that did it for me then was Dutch Force- Deadline what a choon. the theme to many of my lessons at school. it was also the time when judge jules was a quality dj- his friday show was at its peak then.
it was also when bobby robson begain his legacy at newcastle....

Right matey! 3 things:
1) Svenson - Clubbin On Sunshine [I know the artist, but not that tune! quality title though!]
2) Dutch Force - Deadline [What a stormer! out the same time as Airwave, two of the best!!!!]
3) Jules is still a quality DJ [even if his show aint so good these days!]

nah, I've got a bunch of stuff from 99 and before too yeah, System F - Out of the Blue has got to be one of my older favorites. Green Court - Moonflight (essential club mix), Kosmonova - Danse Avec Moi (airscape remix), Frank E and Mars L - Song of the Holyman are close behind. I wish Up-Server would make a new song.
