Post subject: Bringing Trance to the people & The essence of Trance |
|
|
As a spin-off from the 'Commercial' topic.
I'm affraid that Trance is beginning on a commercial uprising. I give two examples to illustrate.
Dumonde vs. Lange - Memory (Original Mix): TOP TUNE, no doubt. So, what happens, it gets released on single. Good news! Then I hear it on the radio... 'Lange Radio Mix'. One can discuss this, but the Original Mix is much closer to the emotional, uplifting Trance we know.
4 Strings - Into The Night (Original Mix): TUNE, but listen to the 'Radio Edit'; I mean, come on!
These are the guys we count on to bring Trance (in its best, purest form) to the people, but they screw up. Rank 1 - Such Is Life: many 'standard' people wil recognise the vocals, a lot less people have the melody in mind, although that is really the essence of Trance: melody, composition & the sounds that build the melody. These things bring out the emotions. Is it strange that I get goosebumps listening to 'Human Evolution - Human Evolution'? Is it strange that I sometimes cry listening to Rank 1 - Airwave? It's not and many people would agree with me on that.
The internet Trance communities is a place that you can find people like me; we're not nerds; we're guys that really appreciate Trance, we're the ones who see the genius of the producers, the complexity of the melodies (we call some tracks 'Intelligent Trance', there is no 'Intelligent R'n'B').
Every single Trance producer has a heart for the music in its purest form, on a frequency level. Have you ever tried to 'analyse' a Trance track? Take any one Trance track and listen to it closely with headphones, try to distinguish every melody. You'll see that during the main sequence melody, other melodies play in the background, some of those (sometimes very hard to distinguish) melodies are more beautiful than the dominant one. Trance (per definition) has so many layers...
This is what we have in common, a genuine love for the music, the sound. Hardstyle, Hardtrance, Progressive, Uplifting, Emotional, Epic, Intelligent,... Genius music, all of it. Some other styles are very inteligent too, it's just how you like it, simply a matter of taste, really; e.g. Ro˙ksopp - Eple (Style = Electronica), that's pretty refined stuff too when you listen to it carefully. Genius Rock, Genius Pop, these things are rare, in Trance, genius is common, that's the difference.
It's as if Trance is on its way to find 'the ultimate track', a track with the sweetest, softest sound, mastered into the nicest melody. Rank 1 came close, now Human Evolution comes close. It's going to be here, some day. And if the world will get wind tracks like these, I'm sure that the Trance community will know a boom. Trance is not mainstream, but in a way it should be. I'm not saying Trance is better than the rest, I'm not saying it isn't,... but it is.

wow, just what i was thinking the other day
Quote: | Have you ever tried to 'analyse' a Trance track |
i think many ppl would agree that trance tracks often seem that the "sum of the parts" does not often equal the product, ie, there something extra, that i well at the moment seem to can't anaylse, you can pick out various qualities of trance tracks, like that multilayer aspect, like you can listen to then track as a whole, listening to the various layers, and enjoying it, or you could pick out a "layer" and focus on that, whilst listening to the track, and still enjoy/be intrigued by it, plus there often many so called layers to enjoy, maybe this is why i can listen to a particular track many times, somehow trance does this without being overtly so, ie it tried so hard to do this, it just seems natural.

If you want to get an idea of the awesomeness of this track, it's out in 2 mixes by Johan Gielen. He first dropped it to the world at Trance Energy 2002, now also on a mix-cd: Recorded Volume 2. On those 2 occasions, he playes it as the first track of his set; that's a signal.
Bye for now.

in the recent time good trance track's does not excist !
or the tune is commercial or progressive - where all the uplifting / melody
tunes that we love?
after 99 - 00 the trance music is just getting worse... ...insted of improve
i hope that the trance artists will soon realise it and do something about it - cos trance is my life and in the past year it was sucks!
even in israel - where the psy-trance was once rules - progressive taking over - all the trance artists change their style (for example:eyal barkan & yahel - who broght us voyage and Intelligent Life) and it absolutly piss me off!
so bring the vibes and the energy back to trance ! ! !
Let Trance Be Your -=Energy=-!

I certainly agree with some points mentioned. Since the 99 there seems to be less 'classic' trance tracks released, sure there have been many excellent releases but not as many back then. I reckon this is due to the dance industry simply evolving and more subgenres emerging.
my two cents

some good points in there, great trance is all in the buildup, sets the tone for the song.
another messy radio edit, Tillman's On The Run, cuts out all thebuild.
