FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Gamma Function Glows with Radiant Mixes and
Charged Grooves Generated by DJ Ellis Dee

Los Angeles, CA/March 1, 2002 – Gamma Function, the eighth CD compilation from Southern California DJ Ellis Dee, delivers an imaginative, thoroughly intoxicating blend of progressive trance, tribal house and breakbeat mixes. For long-time devotees of electronic music and new converts alike, Ellis Dee has set the mood for a sonic celebration. Gamma Function is available this month at all major music retail outlets and online at www.mdmarecords.com and Amazon.com. Suggested retail is $17.99, but is being offered on mdmarecords.com for $14.99 plus a bonus t-shirt.

“I feel the tracks on Gamma Function are funky and engaging enough to listen to both on a dance floor and anywhere else people want to generate a unique atmosphere,” notes DJ Ellis Dee. “Each mix I make reflects my music mood at the time, and here I feel energy and optimism. Because my moods change often, each one of my CD’s is a unique experience onto itself. I hope people from all walks of life will dig Gamma Function and want to experience my other compilations.”

Musically, DJ Ellis Dee keeps it real on Gamma Function with a range of tunes that generate many moods. He likens the experience of creating the CD to a journey, and hopes the listener will visit these places with open ears and an open mind. Gamma Function starts off with East coast urban breaks scene with the likes of Criminal Element Orchestra, Miraj and Lee Coombs with their crunchy, groovy breakbeat style. It then slowly heads West and goes global and into the progressive club scene with tracks by New Order, Tendroid and Hydrogen Rockers. Finally, it ventures into the desert with the uplifting, progressive trance selections of Redback, Cimmera, Sonic Infusion and Oko.

Notes DJ Ellis Dee, “Gamma Function offers a great variety of music in several different electronica genres. When I created it back in the Fall of 2001, I drew upon several unforgettable breakbeat tracks and progressive trance tracks that really caught my ear in recent months. Sonic Infusion was especially uplifting for me as it reminded me of concerts I experienced in the Mojave Desert."

Gamma Function includes such pieces as the driving, pulsating Tendroid and Huda Hudia, the melodic and spiritual Sonic Infusion and the infectious Hydrogen Rockers and Criminal Element Orchestra. It reflects Ellis Dee’s continuing passion for innovative British and European mixing styles and American cutting-edge club breakbeat music, and builds on his individualized brand of mixing and musical interpretations established on earlier projects leading up to this release, including Sophisticated High, Left Coast Funk and Liquid X (some of which will eventually be released in future months). Though Ellis Dee projects success, he hopes to take it in a different direction from his famous and visible DJ counterparts.

“I enjoy being a low-key kind of DJ, and I definitely like not being mainstream,” he affirms. “For me, being a DJ is a spiritual and creative outlet, and I like to make my own mix CDs on my schedule with whatever tracks inspire me and play live events at my discretion. Although I am spending an increased amount of time with my work and compositions, I will never allow the DJ thing to get out of control and have it be merely something I do for a living. I need to keep it real, so it will always be something that’s enjoyable for me. I want to find a healthy balance between DJ-ing and the rest of my life so they co-exist peacefully.”
