Post subject: Tidy boys Interview ahead of Escape Into the Park 13/6/09 |
|
|
We take a minute to catch up with the Tidy Boys In the lead up to their set at Ecape Into The Park!
Why do you love Escape into the Park?
Amadeus Mozart: Well we’ve been lucky with the weather, every time we come the sun comes shining through, so that seems to be good- no mud. And the crowd seem to be a little bit excitable…
.
Andy Pickles:… the welsh we find very excitable they like the hard house, the hard style, so you just can’t fail to get a good reaction and I actually think of ALL the festivals the sound here is probably one of the best as well, you know when we play certain festivals they have noise limitations but here it’s just banging out so we just get a great reaction, we love playing in Wales, and you’re particularly fond of the Welsh boys aren’t you…
Amadeus Mozart: … errrr Yeah….It’s almost a bit mental you could even play a bad set and it go down well…
Andy Pickles: Woah woah woah what are your trying to say?
Amadeus Mozart :… I’ll have a word with you later, but anyway… it’s the sort of crowd where you can literally play what you want and they literally hang on every track, there’s no lull they’re up on every track, where as we’ve done some festivals- mentioning no names- that can be a little bit flat, here they’re up for it from the start to the end
Andy Pickles: I think it’s almost like a club gig this because when you play festivals it can be flat-peak-flat but at Escape there’s just an club atmosphere in the air in a festival environment.
Amadeus Mozart : I love a club with the low ceilings and the sweaty atmosphere and you (Andy) like your festivals- so we’re pretty spilt down the middle- and I think as a producer music is produced for a club rather than a festival
Andy Pickles: I think at a festival you have to play a certain set, there’s no time to get clever and play the latest release you’ve got or the b-side, we have to give the people what they want and tailor it for a festival. Playing clubs is the backbone of what we do but were now in a roll of festivals across the summer but Escape into the Park is certainly the pinnacle
Amadeus Mozart: Everywhere we go we have to play ‘Heavens Cry’ as it’s the Tidy Boys anthem
