I am interested in hearing how music collector store their cds. Do you store them on cd racks, in cardboard boxes, or just lying around a room?

Should be interesting to hear your replies.

Peace. Very Happy

I store mine on my dresser, next to my CD player. In stackable wood/steel racks. At least, that's where the cases are. For the most part, I keep the actual CDs in a big CD wallet so I can just grab that if I'm going somewhere.

See I have a bit of a problem here. *looks at 6 boxes of records in the corner*

Each box is has its own genre like Trance, Hard/Tech Trance, Hard House, Techno etc., but within the boxes there is no order. Whatever I play I put at the front of the box, so they usually filter through and end up with tracks sorted by approximate age.

Its becoming properly hard to find tracks quickly now (even though somehow I have a rough idea where each one is - theres nearly 800). I have considered ordering records by artist, title or label and just can't decide. Any opinions on what works for any of you guys?

D'you mean records or CDs?

I sort mine by artist. FIrst I have the big compilations, where the name is not as important (A Trip in Trance, Gatecrasher, Godskitchen) then it's sorted by artist. At the end are my non-electronic CDs so I can flip straight to the back if I want to listen to one of them.

I actually have most of my old cd's boxed away at the attic...didn't bother unpacking them after we moved a couple of years ago - with 3 little boys running around it's safer to keep them at the attick anyway. Razz

Most of the new cd's are just piled upon eachother on a shelf...

I sort my records on country, then on label, then on artist. Works nicely.
My CD's aren't really sorted: they're just sitting in a big plastic box.

it probably is smart to keep all your records in a box stored away. ive been noticing lately that the prices have been coming down for full lengths. cd's even too but those are meant for a cabinet or something

Depends; most of them are in various jewel cases in various conditions in various but fairly safe locations throughout the room.

I have two 200-CD books as well, that I use for CD's with cases that have failed me.

New CD's are in the vicinity of the computer, favourites are by the stereo, and the rest of them tend to make it to the oddest places around here.

My cds are in a plastic case, and on the shelf. My cd library is in the works at this time. If anyone has any really good suggestions on good cds to buy, please let me know?

Andy's got some pretty spiffy taste, just mooch off him. Okidoki

Oh, and if he hasn't already, tell him to get his hands on Earth 7. Badass CD, a lot more jazzy than his earlier stuff.

That is worth pursuing RayvinAzn. Maybe worth trying! I have seen Andy's cd library and it is sure spiffy as you stated above. What type of genre in electronic music is Earth 7?

Jazz and D&B fusion; very relaxed music. Ask Andy, I'm sure he has some.
