Post Post subject: Mixes of Carte Blanche Reply with quote

I've recently heard a couple mixes of Carte Blanche that I didn't even know about before. The Ronald von Gelderen Remix was very good - it was harder than the original. The Hitch Hiker & Jacques Dumondt Remix was pretty good - they had some nice synths there that sounded almost like horns or trumpets. I was quite surprised by the RvG mix, because I used to think that Carte Blanche was one of those tracks that should not be touched. But I think he did justice to the original. Quite a surprise because there was a rather pointless remake a while back called Digital Deliquints - 2 Do Anything.

Anyone else heard these or other versions of the classic?

Yes, but none of them beat the original! Ronald van Gelderen's remix is rather nice though, but not very different from the original! Kenny Hayes made a remix of this one as well...I think it was released last year or late 03' on Positiva Smile

I have heard all the Carte Blanche mixes and imo none of the remixes come even close to original.. RvG remix would have been good with some other, less annoying synths. Now it's just pretty horrible as it is.

And yes, Kenny Hayes remix (crap) and Ronald van Gelderen remix (meeh) got out on Positiva back in latter half of 2003 on one of the Positiva 10 years anniversary releases.. and later on other labels across the globe.

My fav mixes are Original Mix and Origin Remix, others i don't really care about. Der Dritte Raum has remixed it also but their remix is way too deep and monotonous for my likings.. Hitch Hiker & Dumondt made it a little more bouncy and their mix is ok.

PS. Positiva 10 years anniversary releases included all'n'all:
vol 1 > BBE - Seven Days And One Week (9 mixes)
vol 2 > Binary Finary - 1998/1999 (6 mixes)
vol 3 > Brainbug - Nightmare (8 mixes)
vol 4 > Judy Cheeks - Reach (9 mixes)
vol 5 > Disco Evangelists - De Niro (7 mixes)
vol 6 > Lange - I Believe (3 mixes) / Follow Me (5 mixes)
vol 7 > Perpetual Motion - Keep On Dancin' (7 mixes)
vol 8 > Spiller - Groovejet (9 mixes)
vol 9 > Veracocha - Carte Blanche (5 mixes)
vol 10 > Watergate - Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence (Heart Of Asia) (6 mixes + a bonus track)

Not absolutely all versions of each track are included there.. i guess they just put there mixes which were originally released on Positiva or something like that, dunno really why they left out some of them.. Check these out if you haven't yet!

I love this song no matter the mix. But I was really impressed by the Digital Delinquents bootleg version. Oh and Kenny Hayes did a great job. (But with that sequence who couldn't??? Brilliant! Razz

The chances of a remix of this track being as spine-tinglingly emotional as the original were and are still fairly slight. The Kenny Hayes mix is the best I've heard, probably due to the fact that it strays the least distance from the original. I don't like the Ronald van Gelderen mix too much, it's just too generic and lacking in emotion. Not a fan of the Origin mix either.
