Post Post subject: Record Press ??? Reply with quote

I was wondering how viable a record pressing business would be?

since there are apparently less and less presses available if you could get one and get some contracts with bigish labels then you would make a decent living?

to press a record cost around 50pence i think, the profit margins must be fairly large and it will be a niche market.....

If you can afford to, you'd get the thumbs up from me.

Respect,

im sure that if you did get one everyone would be your best friend all of a sudden, just like when you were the first in town to get a 2x cdburner a few years ago..

My 2x burner used to take 40 MINUTES! to do a single cd! my god i must have been dam patient back then.

And as for pressing vinyl.. the equipment would cost you a fortune!!!
You would one hell of a bank loan to get started.

i dowt ud need a licence.. after all its only the same as a CD writer in thoery.. and alot of record that are produced are whitelabels and dont have copyright due to them featuring samples or being bootlegs..

but yeah.. i have heard they cost lots of £££... but if u think.. most vinyls are sold at £5... that would be a £4.50 profit per vinyl sold.. sell 100 vinyls your on £450 profit... it would soon pay for the initail pay ment of the press.....
