Pioneer DJS is a software package that brings many of the major features of the company's Pro DJ range to your PC. It takes the place of two CDJ decks and a mixer, and includes facilities like BPM syncronisation, looping, effects and waveform displays in one easy to use package.
In fact, it's so intuative to use that Pioneer have launched the 'Make Me A DJ' initative, installing the DJS in schools across the country, allowing 12-16 year-old pupils the chance to learn a musical instrument that can also help them rock a party.
Ex-Radio 1 DJ Spoony launched the project at the Ministry of Sound in London, introducing a selection of local school kids.
“I’ve been explaining exactly what DJing is to them, showing them the DJS and how similar it is to professional products like the CDJ decks and DJM-800 mixer,” Spoony says.
The DJS is a perfect introduction to the basics of DJing, letting pupils mix up their favourite music and then compete against other schools in prize draws to win serious amounts of Pioneer hardware.
It should be a popular choice in class, and help to blow away boring stuffy ideas about what learning and playing music should be all about.
“Even if they don’t end up doing it as a career, just to be able to play at friends parties is a great trick to know,” says Spoony.
DJS software is now also exclusively available to buy here on DJdownload.
DJdownload's Guy Osborne says "Pioneer have always been at the forefront of DJing technology and it's hugely exciting that they are now getting into software too. Taking the DJS into schools is also an amazing idea and should produce a new generation of talented DJs and electronic music lovers."
