Tom Golden joins the Punk'id Roster

Tom Golden (homegrown music, lost my dog recordings uk)

“Tom's a whipper snapping 22 but his musical taste in the boompty has all the hallmarks of the much older Luke Solomon.” – I-DJ MAGAZINE 2003

Tom took his first steps into DJing properly when he put on a one off night called Homegrown in his home town of Northwich back in July 2000. The night was run alongside two of his friends (both DJs) Adam B & Nathan Landry. Shortly after the night they were contacted by Levi's and Mixmag to play alongside Tom Stephan on the 'Levis Student House Party Tour', this took in Leeds , Newcastle and Sankeys Soap in Manchester.

In 2002 Tom and the other two lads set up www.homegrown-music.com as a base to promote themselves as DJs. The site has grown immensely over two years and is know internationally for its 'Homegrown Hotmix' concept in which two guest DJs per month supply mixes for people to stream and download, previous guests have included Ty Tek, Mylo, Tom Stephan, Justin Martin, Q Burns Abstract Message, Tony Thomas and many more underground house DJs. Alongside the two guest mixes the residents (Adam, Tom, Nathan & new addition Woody) each take it in turns for two of them to do a mix every other month. In the two years in has been running the site has received over 4 million hits. The site also features an extensive back catalogue of mixes to stream, archived radio shows, photo galleries, video, forthcoming dates and a busy message board.

Since launching the website Tom has also concentrating on getting as many gigs as possible all around the UK, he has held down 3 residency's in the 4 years he has been playing, the most successful was a weekly residency at Manchester night 'Landed' back in 2003. Each Week he was warming up for the legendary Hacienda resident Graeme Park as well as many other top notch names. Unfortunately the club where Landed was held shut down at the end of 2003. Of recent the gigs have been stepping up a notch and Tom has been playing at bigger and better venues including; Tribal Sessions in Manchester, The Masque in Liverpool, the Stylus first birthday also in Manchester, 3 nights at the Bomb in Nottingham over the Summer (one of which was warming up for the Audio Bullys) and The Gallery @ Turnmills in London. October 2004 saw Tom, Adam and Nathan celebrate their websites second birthday and for this they organised a small tour to celebrate, the highlight of which was heading out to Croatia to play at the Zagreb Film Festival. It certainly was an amazing experience as on the final night of the festival Tom and Nathan ended up playing to over 1500 people in the main room, whilst Adam carefully educated 400 people into deep house sounds in the bar.

Recently Tom (like many other DJs) has been in the studio alongside fellow Homegrown head Adam B, they have so far produced a few choice house cuts and their first full ep ‘The Homegrown Headz EP' is pencilled in for a 2005 release on Midlands based label ‘Lost My Dog'.

The Wonderboys aka Sugar T Cain & Dee James

Sugar t. Cain and Dee James have become established and well respected names in Belgium's house and tech house scene. Based in Ghent (Belgium) they have a hand in several party concepts and next to their residencies at Tijuana club and the Decadance parties they play all over the country and abroad.

Both Dj’s started listening to electronic music in the early nineties. While Sugar Cain came from an electro and industrial music background and was initially most interested in an experimental style of dance music, Dee James was already becoming passionate about the love of his life: house music. This resulted in residencies in a few of Belgium’s finest house clubs like Decadance and H2O club.

While Dee James took a break in the late nineties, Sugar Cain was building up his own reputation as a dj and party organiser. With his own organisation ‘D-luxe’ he was responsible for a series of successful parties in Ghent and Ostend (Belgium).
After a year he joined forces with another organisation called Gyzmo and together they developed several concepts that resulted in some legendary events in Ghent’s nightlife.
In 2004 Sugar Cain decided to leave Gyzmo to focus even more on his musical career.

As Dee James was back in the game by that time he met Sugar Cain and bound by their passion for house music they played a few gigs together. As the chemistry worked and crowds wanted more of the good stuff they got offered a residency in Tijuana club in Ghent. Every Thursday night they invited new as well as established Belgian talent to rock the place.

Meanwhile, they also started a monthly night in one of Belgium’s finest house clubs Decadance where they invited quality artists like Derrick May, Jason Hodges, Fred Everything, Jamie Anderson, D’Julz etc.
After a first successful season they are now finalising the last editions of the second year.

Next to their busy national schedule they also found some time to spread their wings across the borders. Together or alone they have played all over Europe in places like Holland, France, Romania, Moscow, Macedonia, U.K., south of Africa (La Réunion) …

In January 2005, Sugar Cain made a promotional trip to Peru (South America) where he played 7 different clubs in less then 3 weeks and headlined a 3000 people beach festival. Together with his partner in crime Dee James he will return to South America at the end of this year to spread their music further across the Atlantic.

Sugar Cain and Dee James do not only make the crowds go wild with their mix of funky and twisted house tracks, they are always the first ones to turn the place upside down with their crazy party-attitude behind the decks. Or as they say themselves: “Let’s get this party started!!”
