Seems vinyls gets less used these days - even by some of the top dj's.

What I found surprising is not that he's not using vinyl, but that he hasn't used it for years.

Yea, Fleming is a big CD monkey! I've got a mix-CD done by him off the front of DJmagazine and he goes into detail about the effects he used and stuff on the CDturntables... I dont mind personally, I dont own a CDturntable(s) yet so I'm still on vinyl but I think we all would respect quality sounding material and vinyl wont last forever. Imagine my copy of 'Universal Nation' in 10years, it'll sound bad!! I cant have that!! Shake As long as the transitions stay smooth and the tracks stay balearic I'm up for embracing technology. I hook my iPOD up alot and start/end with some really rare or bran-new tracks thesedays, but sometimes I need it in the middle of a set...

I've seen j00f once (Trance Energy), he impressed me with his enthousiasm towards the crowd, not with tracks. I didn't feel his music a lot (psytrance/trance).....

I can recall he used cd's yeah...

Yep not only that but the JOOF label will only be pressing very limited quantities now of each release and concentrating on digital downloads, with some releases being digital only especially on their new progressive JOOF Deep label.

It seems that vinyl is getting to be a very rare medium. At most club nights I go to you only seen the decks being used as a beer mat.

CD's are taking over Smile

Keep in mind that paid DJs get a lot, if not most/all of their tracks for free. Since most releases are made available to these DJs via CDR first, they have no choice but to mix on CDs. Come the time (months!) when the track is actually available on vinyl, the DJs see them as old and outdated and will most probably have moved on to newer tracks.

Come down to joe public, bedroom or amateur/small time DJs, vinyl makes up a large part of their collection. Hence why in clubs you see lots of CD deck action. Maybe.
