Hi Guys,

I was thinking about this one, looking over some of my old tunes Confused

What classic tune would you like to see completely brought up to date? (Sort of like C-Sharp was not to long ago and on the eve of Factoria's Remix of Matt Darey's Liberation)
And Who would you like to see do the remix and why?

It's interesting I think. I mean for instance...could you enough Push's Universal Nation the Armin Van Buuren Remix??? Surprised (Since he's the only one left I think!! hehe)

Me, I'd love to hear Airscape's L'Esperanza remixed by Cosmicman. Twisted Evil and why I hear you scream!!!?? Because he rockz and it would work with his style!! Laughing

What you think? Wink

Well, I'm part of the M.I.K.E. forum and te producer Haak was talking about a remix of Universal Nation he started about 4years ago, the sample sounded a little too uplifting/generic trance for me, I think if he did a remix like his remix of Jan Wayne's 'Lilly' then it would be an altogether different monster! That would be epic I think.

Other than that, following in the footsteps of Sunquest, I think a Perry O'Neil remix of 'Sunrise At Palamos' by M.I.K.E. would be great. Similar to his remixes of 'Clear Blue (Somewhere) by Elevation and 'As The Rush Comes' by Motorcycle.

I think Alex Morph would do a pretty good job of any of the 1999 dancefloor bombs too...

I can't say I've enjoyed very many of the "200X" versions of older tracks that have been coming out recently. Most of them seem like a cry for attention really. I'm sure there are a few decent ones floating around out there, but I can't say any have caught my ear.

To be honest, i wouldn't want to see or hear any more new remakes/updates of the older classics but rather of some less known non classic tracks instead if must update something. That might be much more interesting than touching already great classic tracks.

There are wayyyyy too many p00r efforts out there, actually most of the 200* updates have been more or less crap just as RayvinAzn hinted, so stop it already and come up with your own ideas instead of remaking the over remixed tunes again and again damnit!! I'd say 1 out of 100 new remakes is actually worth listening more than once or twice, the rest can be easily forgotten within a few days.

Seems that remaking a classic has been "the thing" strongly for some years now and there isn't a light in sight at the end of the tunnel for any change.. more comes out all the time. At this rate playlists of the big jocks include 90% remakes and 10% actually new, original productions which is very sad IMO. Oh well, there's always the good ol' pre '98 trance for me. Confused

Totally agree on this. It's a bit like Cafe Del Mar, Greece (Three Drives) or The Orange Theme (as shown in post http://www.ivibes.nu/board/viewtopic.php?t=10729 )
or What about Dumonde's remix of Blue Monday! Shock

I'm very sick of all the updates myself, certainly since it can only help stunt the flow of Future ''classics in the making!'' and in that, is why I'd asked the question....it's purely hypothetical and by asking the song and artist, it's a personel pref and should mean it wouldn't be cr@p to the listener.

Greece remixed by G M Project, I didn't think it would work and I was right in my opinion.

Come on Grim...I'm sure you've always wanted to hear at least one track in that massive Catalogue of yours mixed in a different way by one of your favs. I do it quite a bit with songs...trying to imagine what it would sound like remixed by the man Corsten!! Razz Rolling Eyes

Heh, you're right, there actually are some tracks i'm always wondering about what would they sound if updated properly but i tend to forget them too quickly.. then remembering months later again. The sounds of uplifting trance today don't really impress me that much so i'd rather want some different approach to a track. For example a decent breaks update like this: Beat Foundation - Foundations II (Fretwell Remix). Or perhaps even Link - Amenity (B.I.G. Remix) might be nice but i'm not really wishing these to happen.. just having some wild ideas.

OK, to kinda contradict what I said before the record label 'Monster Classics' is getting abit out of hand now, just seen new remixes of Ratty's 'Sunrise' following in the footsteps of 'Dreamland' and Airwave's 'Save Me'. This is a trend thats going to keep growing, I also saw copies of 'Pearl River 2005', 'Out Of The Blue 2005' by F System' called 'Into The Blue' -- how original!? Rolling Eyes . I mean, some of the remixes I've heard have some solid productions but they do take the shine off the reason they were good in the first place... Maybe 2005 should just calm the f**k down with the rubbish and the amount of stuff coming out!? Maybe thats just my opinion too? Oh!! And kill the Crazy Frog for ruinning Axel F! Lol. Razz

Completely agree. The new versions usuallyl not any better. If you can't think of anything original to release, then don't bother releasing anything. It just seems like producers are running out of ideas and have to capitalize on the popularity of old tunes that everyone has already heard.

I've heard the Into The Blue remix of System F. The trance remix is duff, but the breaks version works nice apart from the quality of the sounds being used.

There is also a hard trance remix of Blue Fear running around called Darksucker (Where their didn't even bother to spell Armin's name right....A.Buren Crying or Very sad ) and Cloudwalking has also seen a Hard Trance dub. The first being terrible, the latter, not bad.
It is a bad thing and may be the only good thing here is that people coming into Trance can get the best tracks this time around.
I'm suprised about Pearl River 2005 mind......

That would suit them to a tee!! Razz (The HT version I have works well with the main sequence, so the heavy beats of the SHOKK-STERS would be cool!)

I like the DuMonde remake of Blue Monday...

I would like:

CosmicMan to remix AHA - Take on me (Why? The song is good, he is good, combination is good)
DuMonde to remix Heaven's Cry - 'Till tears do us part (I love the song, and I love DuMonde even more, ofcourse old-style sweeping strings, percussion, heavy bass type of remix)
A*S*Y*S to remix Felix - Don't you want me (Just curious)
Dark by Design to remix Ralph Fridge - Paradise (Dark by Design rocks!!)
