I like downtempo because it seems to incorporate simple beats with different types of sounds. Downtempo leads you into a whole new experience.
I also like progessive because it seems to shake things up from the dull areas of life. Progressive uses different beats that promote a variety of agressive and smoothing sounds.
My favorite downtempo artist is Ulrich Schnauss.

1st: Trance -> because it's unique
2nd: Progressive -> because it makes up for all the "bad trance"
3rd: Ambient/chillout -> because it's great to fall asleep with

Hardtrance: because it has the melody from trance added with energetic beats
Progressive: because of Way out West with 'Killa' and James Holden's remix of 'The Sky was Pink', Nathan Fake - Outhouse, Benz & MD, Shiloh. Stuff like that. I like it as long it's melodic.

I'm rather partial to Breakbeats myself, I love the aggresiveness sans the cheese.

I'd say I'm mostly into Trance. Sure their is a lot of chaff being released but push that aside and their be good stuff lurking.

ahh trance, what a wonderful genre of music
personally, i like uplifting/melodic. why? because it drives me, pushes me, inspires me. When i'm not listening to trance it feels as if there is something void in me

My thinking as well, hence my rationalisation for liking trance.

I completely agree with Viceroy...too many stuff are coming out......even the melodies are the same !!!!! For God's sake. The reaction mechanism is simple though to explain all these:
Scene started -->
Scene developed -->
It was adopted as a fashion (ASOT mainly) -->
Trance audience around the globe expanded exponentially -->
More releases needed -->
Computers become powerful, VSTis - everybody is a producer nowadays! --> Label bloom -->
Releases bloom -->
Since trance melodies tend to be simple, chances are that most trancy riffs and basslines have already be done -->
We end up listening to "familiar" trance tracks the one after the other -->
We say that trance is not unique anymore in this topic...

My fave genres are most likely trance and hardtrance.
A lot of people say trance sucks nowadays, but if you look right through the loads of "less good" records that are being released, you will find some very classy tracks coming out every week. Everyone seems to be over-satisfied by listening to all the weekly radio shows and downloading mp3 promo's etc.
But I'm sure we'll all get over it and start loving trance like we used to

I would say goa/psy and hardtrance are my fav's these days - but I also like other stuff - like trance-tracks with nice female vocals.

Well, I agree with you to some extent, but producers such as Perry O 'Neil, Mark Otten, Joni Ljungqvist (LNQ), Galen Behr (Passiva/Ava Mea/1/2 Syndique) and Jonas Steur (Propylon/Estuera) are producers that are for ahead of producers like Factoria and Andy Bagguley, whom IMO, make very standard trance....
