I reviewed this compilation with respect to chillout diamonds such as Bluetech - Elementary Particles + Prima Materia, Androcell - Emotivision, Shulman - In search of a Meaningful Moment, Floating Point, Floating Point 2, Green Instant, Mountain High, Wider Horizons, Abakus - That Much Closer to the Sun, Fahrenheit 3, Fahrenheit 4, Hallucingoen in Dub (mixed by OTT), OTT - Blumenkraft, T.i.T - Ambient Factory, Hammock (Synergetic Records), etc. Just to let you know where I'm coming from; Dub/chill, pysbient.

I'm a somewhat-satifised, but mostly disappointed customer who also bought this compilation. Cognizant of the above, I was disappointed of how the mix was built down at the end with cheesy crap love ballads that would make anyone sleepy. In my opinion, the point of chillout is creating a relaxing-groovy mood without the side effects of sleepiness/grogginess. In other words, I should be able to listen to this at work or while driving without feeling sleepy.

01. The Realm - This is Not a Breakdown (chilled). Wonderful.

02. Miro - By Your Side. Great vibe with female vocals blend nicely into the synths and beat, even though I'm not a big fan of vocals.

03. The Space Brothers - Beyond the Sun. An example of how female vocals should be used in a song. Too many words makes me feel like I'm listening to euro pop crap, unless there's a catchy tune that the vocals mix into.

06. Kansai - Remember this Night. Where I wanted punch Lustral, all vocals, and where the mix loses the nice chillout beat and turns ambient. A shame that foreshadows the shitty 2 ending tracks.

07. Sc1 - Element. Not bad ambient track.

08. Iguassu - Excursion Bliss. Nice groovy track. Great vocal usage.

09. Lustral - Everytime (a man called adam mix). Zzzzzzz. Kill me now. Who cares if a man called adam mixed this? Quality counts not credibility. Sounds like something from the 80's, extremely disappointing. His own track on his Ibiza chillout was horrible, not to mention free with a magazine; no wonder. Only with the help of Groove Armada, Thievery Corp and Nightmare On Wax did he make that compilation listenable. If OTT, Shulman, Androcell, or Bluetech showed up then something magical would happen.

10. Stereo 7 - You Belong (pw sunset full mix). Did I say Zzzz yet? Too slow. At least there's some beats, but it still sound's like some crappy 80's movie sountrack. Symphony...hmm? This track belongs on some crap pop cd.

Out of respect for Rick Jelly, I have decided to take down the Dj mix links.
Thank you for your understanding.
