I was thinking about this as I was listening to Digital Delinquinents - 2 Do Anything. With all these new versions of old tunes and classics, I think a lot of them should have been left well enough alone.
So the song I mentioned would be one. Pointless to remix Carte Blanche, one of the finest trance tracks ever.

Im totally sick to death of remixes of classic tunes remixing them is never going to recapture the same magic as when they were first released. I recently heard a remix of Delerium - Silence total waste of space.

Sometimes, you can get lucky and hear a really good remix which makes the track more modern and more playable... Smile

however, you are right... some tracks should be left alone...

Thrillseekers - Synthasia .. the new mixes suck so bad its not even funny

Totally agree with you there and even worse Angel City shouldn't have messed with it.

The Angel City track is shocking. Very tacky and does not do the original track any justice at all.

To be exact, Children was made in late '94, released on summer '95 in Italy, fall '95 outside Italy on Platipus (UK) and later on Deconstruction and several other labels. The rest is history.. Very Happy

The remixes that could have been forgotten:

Delerium - Silence (A&B Remix)
The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia >> 2004 Mixes
Three Drives (On A Vinyl) - Greece 2000 >> All the remixes made in 200*, they can't improve the original 1998 mixes & remixes

...and a million other p00r updates/remakes/remixes. Also the "vocalization" of originally instrumental tracks can't be forgotten, it has ruined the feel of many great tracks like Push - Strange World, Plastic Boy - Live Another Life, Beat Pusher - Murto, Riva - Stringer.......

Children should have been left alone for sure, and Carte Blanche.

I like the new mixes of Synaesthesia though.

Delerium - Silence (A&B Remix) the new pitch of Sarahs voice on this track is refreshing...I find myself playing this one over the original most of the time...

I find that i don't like it Silence was an amzing track that really should have been left alone. I feel that they haven't done anything to it that warrants a remix.

I agree with most people about 'Children' as it is a real classic. 'Insomnia' should have been left in piece also. Tracks like 'Cafe Del Mar' and 'Carte Blanche' I don't mind being remixed coz although they're hugely popular tracks I don't think they have the same kind of classic value as the previously stated. I didn't like the Marco V mix of 'Cafe Del Mar', the Kenny Hayes mix of 'Carte Blanche' is good (probably because it never strays too far from the original) but the other remixes suck. If classic tracks have to be remixed only the biggest and best names should be allowed to touch them though.

By Insomnia do you mean the one by Faithless?

I thought of another example:

Neo & Farina - Binary Refined - what is the POINT?

remixes such as dat 4 clubbers mix of children, the silence remix by at&t etc are all sh1te if u ask me its all 2 make a quick buck so as they can put them on cds but why not just have the originals on cd so as they sound better and become more popular, thats my opinion neways

I prefer the Angel City song over Children and yes I have listened to that track since 96, and I think the vocals are soothing.

My point behind this post, some people like things others don't and your opinion is worth no more than mine, so if you don't like it then don't listen to it, doesn't mean other people won't enjoy it.

On another note, just listened to 4 Clubbers version of children, I prefer that also over the original which is classed as cheese by most, along with Ian Van Dhal - Reason and the like.

Actually, it isn't. Most people consider Children to be a classic.

Same here I really like the Cor Finjeman remix of it!
