Post Post subject: Too hard? Reply with quote

I realize that in my time as a helper here I haven't accomplished even a quarter of what I wanted to. It's mostly my fault, I'll admit that, but I wanted to get some more input from the general public (you guys) to see what you want.

Right now my reviewing style is very long and thorough; it takes me two times listening to each song at least while I'm writing a review. I don't mind doing it this way, but it is a rather slow process, and I can't get as many reviews done as I would like to.

So I ask you this: What kind of reviewing style would you like to see from me? I've looked into three basic styles so far:
The first one walks the reader through the entire CD, track by track, with my thoughts on the mixing, the individual tracks, and the overall feel created by them. This is the longest format I've done, and while I think it is very thorough, it is also very time-consuming.
The second simply lists the tracks, and I give my thoughts on each one individually, and I put any special thoughts about the CD at either the top or the bottom. This process also takes a fairly long time, as some tracks are simply building into the next track, and don't stand alone very well.
The last is no more than an overview of the CD, with some remarks on tracks that stood out, and a tracklisting at the end. This style doesn't take very long at all, and I could probably do a few reviews in one good day.

Now, my question to you is what would you like to see? Is it worth sacrificing what will hopefully be only minimal quality in my work for the quantity of reviews I will have time for? Or would you like more in-depth reviews of the CD's, but perhaps not quite as many?

I'd agree number 2 but without it being long winded...just because I'm sure theres lots of ppl on this board that just dont have the time to read long reviews as much as we would like...just my thoughts...

Cheers

To be honest, the more thorough the review the better, in my opinion. So number 1.
But number 2 is fine as well.

I'd say an in depth review is always best. Sometimes a quick to the point can be ok when your in a rush though.

Why read a review if you cant "trust" it? And can you trust one that is fast made?
Reviewing takes time, and it must to be a real review thats my opinion so I go for option one!

More quality to the people! =D
