Building Dj Sets

Ok....i'm wondering how can i build a good dj set?

I mean...can i mix almost every style in one mix ?

what are the rules or styles for a dj set ?

i should start with the most downtempo song ?

i have to maintain full beat all the time ?

In fact can someone give me some tutorials.

what are all the rules for dj mixing ?

I hope someone can aswer some or all of my lame questions ?

best advice you could get, is to listen to many many dj's of different styles spin a set.

i should start with the most downtempo song ? You don't have to, although it is a preferred method.

i have to maintain full beat all the time ? Not necessarily, but it probably helps you to keep time.

OK, I'm not a DJ or a producer, and I don't even listen to many sets. But here are some things I suggest:
-IF you're just looking to make a mix, say, of your favourite tunes, it doesn't matter what you put next to each other. But if you want to make a mix that flows well, choose tunes that progess. A common tecknique is to start slow, then go to a tune that is a bit faster or more melodic, and build this way, peaking three-quarters of the way through with your most upbeat, uplifting, or melodic tune. Then you can either slow down the mix, going back the way you came with slower tunes, or you can go harder (which is what happens on many mix CDs). You can also get faster if you want, ending with a real crash-and-bang tune that gives people a good impression of your set overall.
Most DJs stay within their style on one particular mix. YOu don't have to, but usually these tunes flow better. If you jump around, from psy-trance to uplifting to house to breakbeat, it sounds choppy. Even within a genre, there are many variations.
As for technical questions, I am 0 help. These are just my ideas.

yea, play wot u want!! who gives a fuck!? well, some ppl wud but if its energetic n we feel the music u can play woteva u want! i always find i start more progressive/breaks at the start n by the end im playin really housey techno or even drum n bass just for a laff... its in the heart so... Very Happy

Sometimes I wonder why people suggest mixing in a faster track to speed things up - if you're beatmatching anywhere near alright then both records are at the same speed! Although I guess you could mix during a breakdown, but that sounds dodgy at the best of times...
