Dunno if anyones already done this topic but, i was wondering if anyone knew about the eric prydz - call on me, who did the original mix? i know it wasn't dj falcon and thoms bangalter, but who did it? apparently eric prydz did nothing but just a simple tweak and then got clearance for the sample?

If you mean the vocal sample, its from Steve Winwood's "Valerie".

I think this track is pretty nice. Its definitly not a track I would have though would be as commercially successfull as it is here in ireland anyway. I think its number 3 in our charts!!.. Fair play... 1 less place for rnb and pure pop... lol Smile

Love this track, but dunno about if he actually made it, but as "Rickorion" says, the vocal samples are from Steve Winwood - "Valerie" Very Happy

I have never liked this track in the first place but the video is ok. It just seems all a bit too chessy for my liking.

i know it samples valerie, i wanted to know who did the original mix before eric prydz did it!!!!!! Thanks

The original bootleg mix was made by a Swedish duo called Retarded Funk & Mafia, back in 2003. They never managed to get the rights to use the vocals so that's why their version didn't get any further than on whitelabel..

Prydz (who is also Swedish) didn't alter the Retarded Funk Mix much, only polished it up a bit. He did enough with it anyway for Steve Vinwood to like his version so much to give him permission to use the vocals and actually Vinwood rerecorded the vocals for Prydz's version.

So basicly because Prydz didn't change the original bootleg much, his original version is officially called Eric Prydz - Call On Me (Eric Prydz vs. Retarded Funk Mix)

I've had that bootleg early last year, its been kicking around places.

Its a nice track but is a little bit repetitive with the use of the vocals.

the song is cool... i know the original singer heard the mix that eric did and liked it so much that he did the vocals for it again. ... the video is interesting.. a little bit on a boring side to be honest.
