Post Post subject: TRANCE AND RAVE Reply with quote

The two words trance and rave tend to go hand in hand in the majority of the peoples mind. This goes especially for those that are not really into the electronic genre. I feel that it is the downfall for the music and makes people look at electronica music as more of a genre related to the party scene rather than a valid genre of music itself. This is sad, because the rave bandwagon has signifigantly decreased and has become less mainstream. Furthermore, a lot of the raves here in Canada are infested with little drugged out punks. I'm not saying that I don't enjoy the fact that electronica is underground, I just think that the relation with rave in a sense degrades the music. What do you guys think? What do you think can be done to stop this relation? I know genres such as hip-hop and alternative are played in clubs, but unlike electronic music, the mention of the music does not make the majority think of clubs, rather they simply enjoy the music itself.

most people think trance is rave
because there is only "rave party" in their dictionary and not "trance party"

when trance goes mainstream which i guess couple yrs from now..

I hope it doesn't go mainstream...

The fact that the music isn't well-known is a blessing in disguise. It keeps things fresh, and untainted. Sure, the music is hard to find, or parties are hard to go to. But like you said, you're more interested in the music than the parties, ergo, just buy CD's/Vinyl online, and enjoy your music that you KNOW isn't tainted by the lure of money and fame.

Parts of it are especially the cheesy shite that gets produced. The 'Clubland' are just full of shite and confuse people into thinking that is Trance / House / Techno good stuff.

That can go both ways...the fact that people have such ignorance of the music indicates that it isn't a popular genre, and therefore, not mainstream.
