 Post subject: Worst mistakes made by producers |

| Whether it's a dodgy vocal sample that sounds out of place or it's an inappropriate melody. I wanna know what in your opinion are the worst mistakes/misjudgements that producers have made in their tracks and what those tracks are.

I'd say Uplifting Trance as a whole. There's apparently a set formula for how to make a successful track, and it's getting followed like a religion .

| I think the worst mistake is when the producers make stupid lurics like the I Just Want To Be A Drummer song by Heavy Rock and 6th Gate - 666. And when they make alot of their songs sound exactly alike like what Darude and the Vengaboys did.

Clonetrancers and Cloneproggers and what else has traditionally bored me. But then again, people are afraid to do something different because there are technosnobs who will boo them for the stupidest reasons. I encourage people to express themselves positively and freely from the uniqueness of their persons without this ridiculous "trance dogma", this religion as you put it.

I'd say that Darude's only songs that sound remotely alike are Sandstorm and Feel the Beat so I'd say that "a lot" is a big stretch.

A bit mistake?
Producing a remix for traditionaly known cheese artists like Ian van Dahl, DJ Sammy and Milk Inc. Biggest mistake a quality producer can do.

Not necessarily if the remixer comes up with a decent result but i agree for the most remixes i have heard of such cheesy artists. Only a very few number of the remixes have been really good IMO. Usually they get better if they dump the vocals.
Vengaboys - Uncle John from Jamaica (M.I.K.E. Instrumental)
- this mix got rid of the vocals totally even if the Remix had only one little snippet of the vocals.
DJ Sammy - The Boys Of Summer (Humate Dub)
- Same goes for this, much better without the vocals used in the Remix.
A few others too but too lazy to think now.
I agree on the clonetrance & -prog too, not much originality in them anymore, most of the stuff released nowadays especially in the uplifting trance genre sound exactly the same no matter who's it by. Only a very few of them are actually worth listenin more than once because all the others have been made a million times before already just by someone else.

Ya that song was trash. Like a lot of his songs. Then again, He also has some kick ass tracks too.

Jose Amnesia - The Eternal (Nu NRG and Thomas Datt 2004 Remixes) - Doesnt even compare to the original or the earlier remixes.
The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Ferry Corsten 2004 Remix) - WTF IS THIS!?

Most vocals added later into originally instrumental tracks sound out of place or otherwise not too good. Trying to commercialize them with some gh3y vocals isn't too great of an idea. Most trancers work best without vocals anyway but there are some exceptions (i.e. Cass & Slide - Perception).
