R n B finally dying!! :)

According to reports, RnB & Hiphop is declining in popularity... Unfortunatly however, Rock and such genres are gaining popularity.

However in Ireland, the closest thing to Trance that is getting more popular is commercial dance...

Not looking good...

Even though im looking forward to Planet Love which is all techno, trance and the like. Hopefully PVD will be there this year again... Smile

Dont agree with you there mate. everywhere u go in newcastle and leeds is fucking RNB it gets on my tits. its alreet when im ant uni i go to top house/ hardhouse etc nights but when im home none of my mates want to go to decent nights just shit ones. aaaah fuckers

glad to hear the hip hop genre isnt selling/coming across aswell as it used to be, well, i really dont mind, cant say i pay attention to it at all. Smile

i like some rock/indie stuff - more the newer mod/indie stuff but trance is my favourite in all its different styles.

I'd love to see the terrible shit on the top 40 charts that they try and pass off as "hip-hop" die out, but real hip-hop music is just like trance, it will never be accepted by the masses and there will always be credible artists putting out beautiful works of art consistently. Artists like The Roots, Mos Def, GZA, etc. -- please don't confuse this with the tripe you get inundated with when you turn on the TV or the radio.

people.. ya gotta realise this is a world-wide phenomena.... even in china and other asian countries; we're not spared the merciless onslaught of cheap cheezy 'rnb' and 'hiphop' tunes... i hear, a big percentage of the clubs over at beijing, plays nothing but top 40 tunes and 'rnb'.

Yuh, tru dat... on the worldwide thang... you ever heard Korean rappers? In Japan, the local brand of R 'n' B is HUUUGE... and they have people like Utada Hikaru to thank for that. I like her stuff, her producers don't get credited as much as they should but it's brilliantly done.

RnB ain't what it used to be decades ago though. Now, over the same instrumental music beds, it's "RnB" when you're singing and "Hiphop" when you're rapping. Some people will try to argue their way out of this one, and yes, there are certainly exceptions, but they only serve to prove the general rule. Bonus points: syncopate the beats a little with some swing, add a little toasting and maybe even a "bo selecta", and you've got... UK Garidge! w00h00

I mean, how does that even make sense? Smile

The radio is still full of it and the clubs just keep on spinning it, doubt the slowdown has arrived yet and if it ever will.

good point. i remember having this debate with my mates after a session on shrooms. we came to similar conclusions that with every genre there is the shit and the underground. the shit is deemed the norm for outsiders of that genre who dont know better (ie like cheese is viewed by many to be what trance is etc) and if you are really intp that genre then will u know what the good stuff actually is.

It doesn't seem that Rap and RnB are in any decline where i am and everyone still loves it as much as they do. Most types of music tend to go thru a phase where it's popular. Hopefully this cRap is coming to an end

R'N'B and Hip Hop are HUGE! in North America and I don't see them dying anytime soon, it seems to grow. Every store sells hip hop style, playing hip hop music in the background, hip hop clothes. They sell it to white kids and they make a shitload of money.

You don't know how happy I would be if that whole rap/hip-hop/rnb scene died in the arse big time! It's such a fake scene. Almost everyone who is into it is a try hard. On top of this, the lyrics are utter shit. All they do is come up with different ways of saying:
1. Pop dat muthafuka
2. Fuk dem hoes
3. I don't need no man

Wot a *beep* of shit! I hate it. Made by losers (50cent, eminem, snoop, dr dre etc) for losers.
