My FTP: Part 2

Ok, I had put the FTP down for the winter break while I changed hardware on my computer, and I have changed a few settings on the FTP, hopefully to help some people that had problems connecting.

I'll be running it for a day or two with a temporary account that anyone can use, just for testing purposes. Try it out, download / upload some tracks if you want, and when you're done, post a reply of how it worked for you (ie: did you have trouble connecting, was moving between folders slow, did the transfers time out, etc.)

Keep in mind that if you can't connect it is probably because my computer is not turned on at that time (it is not on while I'm asleep or at school).

So, for the next little while, give me a hand to test it out with the following information:

IP Address: 24.141.108.9
Port: 10000
User name: test
Password: test

After the testing period is over, I will decide whether or not to look for better software or to put it online officially. If / when it is officially online, I will be setting up per-user accounts (but only for ACTIVE ivibes forum members), so everyone can have a personal login. Please no sharing with your account with friends.

I've never got ftp's. all the ones on audiogalaxy i found require a dodgy site registration or won't let me upload or download anything, what would be the easy link to log on, cos I can help with testing and uploading if needed, I could sure use to upload my stuff so I can sort out my computer cos its nearly full on the hard drive... on AG they do the easy link and the ftp demo i have lets me view them, but I don't know how to set them links up from the info u've given there... but If ne1 can help I can spare most daytimes to sit & upload stuff on a fast connection too Smile

If you want to upload stuff, that'd be great. I'll be putting up a request list sometime, but until then, just take a look through both trance singles directories and upload stuff that I don't have, but is that style.

Oh, and forgot to mention: There is no ratio, and you don't need to do any 'dodgy' registartion to use it. Just log in and enjoy.

My maximum upload speed for when you download is ~40 KB/s. The maximum download speed for when you upload is ~200 KB/s. It's just the way the cable companies set their hardware, so I'm sorry if it is too slow at times.

It's about 8 hours a day. Up to 12 on weekends.

Well, it's been 2 days, and so far no one has mentioned any problems with using the FTP? Does this mean that all has been fixed? Anyone who was having problems before know if it is working for them now?

If it's all working I'll start making accounts for members.... so is there anything not working with it that I should take care of before I make this official?

Well... no one seems to be using the FTP today or yesterday much. Do you guys still want it or should I leave it offline and just use it uploading / download requests? Cause most of the stuff I have is available on Audiogalaxy.

Another idea I have... is to scrap the FTP idea altogether, and use an IRC file server. That way, if anyone wants to trade files, we can all do it on IRC, in the iVibes channel. What do you guys think? What about you admins, how do you feel about that?

I'm having problems reconnecting to ur ftp to finish your upload... any chance you could sort me out a new password and Id to finish the songs or check out and see if you can sort out why it won't reconnect me, im using the hotlink you put at the beginning of this post
