Let the rest of the iVibes community know what really floats your boat. What artist albums or compilations do you think no true fan of trance should be without?
I'll get back with my list when I've compiled it. But the System F album - 'Out of the Blue' is a must!

I'd say no collection would be right without:
Trance Nation 2 & Paul van Dyk - The Politics Of Dancing

I'll just list some of the musthave (more or less) trance related artist albums/remix compilations, too many mixed compilations to choose from.
Ayla - Nirwana (1999)
BT - ESCM (1997)
BT - Movement In Still Life (1999)
Chicane - Far From The Maddening Crowds (1997)
Chicane - Behind The Sun (2000)
Cygnus X - Hypermetrical (1995)
Cygnus X - Collected Works (2002)
DJ Tiësto - In My Memory (2002)
Jam & Spoon - Tripomatic Fairytales 2001 (Trance, 1993)
Jam & Spoon - Tripomatic Fairytales 2002 (Ambient, 1993)
LSG - Singles Reworked (2003)
PvD - 45RPM (1994)
PvD - Seven Ways (1996)
PvD - Vorsprung Dyk Technik (Remixes 92-98, 1998)
The KLF - White Room (1991)
Tranceparents - Family Album (1993)
Underworld - 1992-2002 (2003)
A few examples of what trance originally was and what did it become.

Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport
Sasha & Digweed - Northern Exposure

Juno Reactor - Bible of Dreams

DJ Tiesto - In Search of Sunrise 2
Johan Geilen - In Trance We Trust 004
This one is extremely hard to find, but if you can afford/find it, it's well worth the price:
Sasha & John Digweed - Renaissance: The Mix Collection Volume 1

I know you guys are sick of hearing this, but A Trip in Trance 1 (mixed by Hiver & Hammer) is a very good mixed compilation. The flow is excellent, everything blends so well together it's amazing. Plus there's loads of good tunes (lots of soft morning trance) on it, so get this if you can!

BT - Emotional Technology
The pinnacle of esoteric sound manipulation fused with pop aesthetics. In other words, catchy tunes with cool fx. Not a single weak track if you approach it openly, such a diverse variety -- yet it all works together!
It's controversial for a reason!
I'm a fan of the lot of the aforementioned too... great choices guys, keep it coming. I like retrospectives, compilations that cover "the best" of a given artist or the biggest hits of the last few years like those MOS ones.
Orbital - Work
is a landmark in EDM singles-making that fit into fine artist albums in the bigger picture.
Also,
Prodigy - Fat of the Land
'Nuff said.

| I'm a big Orbital fan, and I really didn't like Work...I love all their other CD's (except for Octane), but this one just didn't do it for me...perhaps because there was nothing new for me on there, but it just didn't have the appeal of any of their other albums.

One reason might be it was fully released only in Finland and most likely won't be released anywhere else. At the moment it's out of stock in most stores around here but i'll check a few places if i'm able to find a copy for you.

My parents got back from Canada today and they picked that CD up for me I've just started listening and so far so good.
The Ferry Corsten World Tour CDs are good as well.
EDIT: from having listened to ATIT 1 I have formed the opinion that the Hiver & Hammer disc is great but the DJ Esquille disc isn't. A lot of the tracks on CD2 just sound like bad copies of good tracks or unfinished ones. This was a disappointment since the DJ Esquille discs on ATIT2 and 3 are a great deal better.

Oh, do you mean Work? Work was their compilation of singles... or do you mean the Blue Album (latest and last)?

I can relate to that one. For people who have not got any of the previous albums though this is a good starter to check out the Orbital style of music.
I've heard a few samples from the new one and find it a little to on the chilled side.

It's funny, because Hiver & Hammer are not known for their DJing skills.
But yeah, I don't even bother with the second disk. The second disk is amateur artists who mostly don't know what they are doing, and they rip off well known tracks. I can't remember them all right now, but I think it's the first track that has the melody of Wonder by Major League.

Amen! one of my favorites, made me a huge PvD fan.
On a similar note...
John Digweed + Sasha - Northern Exposure
Paul Oakenfold - Tranceport or GU: Oslo
Sasha - GU: Ibiza (The ultimate 99' CD).. For that great late 90's Ibiza flash Seb Fontaine's Cream Ibiza Departures Cd is good, too.

As far as Tiesto goes I reclon Just Be is a pretty poor album, apart from Traffic and Love Will Come Again which are awesome tracks. I much prefer his mix CDs like Summerbreeze.

Boundries of Imagination is a great CD, not a bad track on the whole CD and lots of classics.
Moor is one I'd like to have, but the price is prohibitive right now.
