Post subject: Do you use a MAC or a PC to sequence with? |
|
|
In the old days (1999 lol) PC's were terrible to use for Sequencing as you had Asio driver delays etc etc needing to buy a soundcard etc and just lag using midi and audio.
I got a MAC, as it was easy , no soundcard extra needed to buy, just plug in and it works. Never lagged etc...
I sold it a few months ago, it was a G3 450 (blue & white) im now gonna start sequencing again, but should I buy a newer mac ( a G4 733mhz or higher etc)
Or keep with my PC for sequencing
It seems EVERYONE professional uses a MAC and Logic.

I use a PC at the moment but thats due to the fact that its easier to get software for the PC and a lot easier to get cracked versions.
However! Now my music partner and I have become a bit more professional these days and are about to extented our studio to the public we are about to upgrade to the MAC using Pro tools.
In My Opinion: If your serious and have the cash then I would go for the mac. But if your on a tight budget I would get a PC and work your way up again.
(Jesus that was long winded for my first post...lol)

Stick with what you love using the most. PC's are good because like it says above, you can get cracked software. But the biggest advantage for PC's is the ability to build it yourself to customize it to your needs. Mac's aren't as expandable but are still excellent.
Ultimatley is depends on what you want to use, Filo & Peri use PC lolz and they sound pretty good
best uplifting song i've heard in ages : Filo & Peri - Spectrum

I think because ive used a MAC since 1997 im used to that for music work.
Just feels a lot more 'professional' and stable.
Basically, from who i've looked at, they all use Macintosh;
Blank & Jones
Scooter
Sylver
Lasgo
Ok, maybe not the most 'professional' groups lol, but you know what I mean.
Its a lot to do with the fact PC's were pretty much unusable back in the early days,as all the ASIO driver issues etc, whereas you bought a Mac and thats it, it does what it says on the tin.
'Either or' nowadays im sure they both work the same

I dont mind about the software bit, as I buy them.
I just bought Cubase SL, with several Waldorf Plug ins for £238
And HALion 2.0 for £160! (offer price BARGAIN!)
So Cracked software is bad You shouldnt use it!

I study music technology at college and we use macs. The studios are all kitted out with G4s and in the resource rooms we use i macs running 0S 10. To be honest i dont like using the macs. The G4s are cool enough but i still prefer PC. I use a custom built pc at home to produce and i can get far better results. It seems that most professional producers use Macs purely for their stablity and performance. Amateurs like me seem to like PC because they're used to it and also as someone mentioned above - its really easy to get free software. Im sticking with the PC anyway!!
