OK I know they're aren't as many hockey fans on here as people who follow the Premier League - but those who pay attention to the NHL, who will win the Stanley Cup? High-powered Tampa Bay or grinding Calgary?
Personally I really like this matchup because Calgary has only won 1 cup and that was years ago, I mean they haven't even made the playoffs for years. And Tampa is an expansion team that lots of good players but has never made it this far before.

Game 1 - Calgary 4 Tampa 1
Surprised me, I thought Calgary would win the series but after sitting around for a week I thought for sure they would lose their first game. Mind the first goal was a fluke. Rolling Eyes

Quick Crash Course

1.Canada rules at hockey (that's really the only rule you need to know)
2.Europeans are for the most part pansies who show up in the regular season, do half decent then Canadians lead their teams to Stanley
3.60% of all players in the NHL are Canadian
4.There is a World Cup of Hockey (held every so often, of the 7 so far, Canada has won 5, there is one this September, watch for Canada to win again)
5.Americans hate hockey so fuck them (they still can't beat the Canadian National Team....remember salt lake people?)
6.Goal of hockey is to put more pucks (6 oz piece of galvanized RUBBER!, they hurt like fuck when you get hit, even with padding....I know I played goalkeeper for 10 yrs) in the oppt.'s net.
7.Most of the cheap stick work is done by Europeans without a clue.

i dont know about you guys but Tampa Bay is a really young team thats hungry for winning. if you say that their a team with a lot of good players, then your right but thats about it. their good players, not stars and they play so well together. im shocked at the first score of the first game but the 2nd game will be totally different. im neutral when it comes to hockey, but i do live in Canada and i would want the Flames to win but just coz Tampa has been playing sooo faacking good, i want them to win. they deserve to be the champions!

You should see all the Flames flags on cars, everywhere you go in Alberta - even in Edmonton!
Tampa does have a really good team, with three of my favourite young players, Richards, St. Louis and Lecavalier. And for additional firepower they have guys like Andreychuk, Modin, Stillman, Fedetanko. I like Tampa because they don't play the neutral zone trap usually, full-on exceitement all the way mostly.
Calgary has mostly got to where they are by hard work. They don't have a lot of top-notch scoring abilities like Tampa does. They have Iginla, Conroy and Gelinas (sometimes) for scoring basically. Kiprosoff has been a big reason as well. He shakes off bad games so easily and plays brillantly the next one.

Game 2 - Tampa Bay 4 Calgary 1
Tampa sped all over the place and scored. Lots of shorthanded chances.

Game 3: Calgary 3 Tampa Bay 0
Didn't see all the game but did see a quality fight between Vincent Lecavalier and Jarome Iginla. As could be expected Vinnie got taken to the cleaners. Laughing
Game 4 tonight.

More luck than anything I'd say on Tampa's part. Niemenen had a brutal check from behind on Lecavalier. I'm sick of that kind of crap.

Game 5: Calgary 3 Tampa Bay 2 (OT)
Pretty wide open game. Iginla was crazy in this one.

Well kids, it's official. Tampa Bay has won the Stanley Cup. So I guess American hockey isn't as bad as the rest of the world thinks.

Game 6: Tampa Bay 3 Calgary 2 (OT)

and the deciding Game 7:
Tampa Bay 2 Calgary 1

So Tampa wins the Stanley Cup.
Sad
