Who's into this sport? Can you explain it to me? I was reading a UK book and they kept on going on about centuries and wickets and all the rest of it, but I didn't know what they were talking about.

Cricket, easy explanation of the game.

'Played on usually an oval sized ground the game is played on a 24 foot strip of grass with two wickets on each end. Two people go to bat in the middle and the opposition have to bowl (Overarm style with a straight arm) at the two Batsman as they are called to try and get them out. They can be out by, hitting the wickets, hitting the batsmans pad when stood in front of the wicket, caught out and being run out.

There are 11 people to each team. If they hit the ball out of the boundry of the ground without it bouncing they get 6 runs, with it hitting the floor and going past the boundry they get 4 runs. To score more runs the batsman has to run from one end of the 'wicket' to the other. Each time they run to the wicket they get 1 run. Thats how runs are scored.

The game is played by the 'Over' which consists of 6 balls or deliverys by the attacking team. Matches can have a Over limit of just have a day limit. A team wins when it has beaten the amount of runs the other team has scored.

A few simply basics of the game, used to play it heavily a few years ago but aint played it for 3-4 years now. Hope that sheds some light on the great english summer game.

i quite enjoy watching it, altho never really got in to playing it, i much prefered playing football

ITS balls...boring as owt....but im getting a job as a steward for the test in june in leeds. £250 quid for doing fuck all for a few days. easy money

i hate this sport... but its only a personal opinion... its like golf to me.. to watch!
