Well the obvious choice is Technics 1210's Very Happy But you must spend lots of $$ on that.

To start off try looking for a set of direct drive gemini for around £150-200 and a mixer for about £50-100 practice on them till you feel you are pretty good at mixing and stuff then you can move onto the better decks. Its better to learn on "bad" decks first because it improves your skillz and will make mixing on good decks even easier.

For the sound just use your hi-fi at the start and then advance to amps and powerfull speakers when you get good. Smile

Oh yeah, belt-drive is a big NO NO, spend the extra and get at least a half decent set of direct drive dex and just a tip, get a good set of headphones and mixer or you might have trouble getting it right and loose interest, which would be a shame. Apart from that, enjoy and good luck for the future... Wink

CHEERS!!! Smile

I learned on a set of Omnitronic belt driven decks with a dj-50 scratch mixer....got the set for about £250 a couple of years back now... still, even though direct drives are tons betterm I found that belt drive weren't too bad for learning on. Smile

weeeell belt drive is: Is the engine in the deck that "drives" the belt. Therefore it is more unstable and it takes more time to stop.

direct drive is the engine that drives the deck and the plate (where the vinyl is placed).

Hope u understand or pm me

take care

I've not long since bought a set of Citronic Pd-1's & an Msx-1 mixer.
Not bad for 300 smackers, can't rate them highly enough as well.. perfect decks for starting out, and beyond.. well worth purchasing, if you have an averagely big budget for a set of first time decks.

Respect,

Wilko

Don't bother with Numark TT's, they are no way near as good as Techs, and are prone to f'ing up.
Spend a little bit extra on some Techs, or some Vestax, you'll be glad you did!

Peace

Still, I would prefer a Technics. I really like strobe dots and vertical pitch sliders. But maybe that's just cuz I'm used to that.
