Who do u think is better PvD or Tiesto?

I love them both, but i'm going to have to say in my opinion that PvD is better because he has a brilliant sound that really appeals to me. Something i can definetly listen to over and over again.

What does everyone else think?

I can't really say as they both have their own style and sound.

Tiesto is edging into more techno style tracks where as PvD is as trancy as ever. Both compliment each other.

This is a hard one, Originally when Tiesto was spinning Trance he was one of the people who got me into trance in the first place and Tiesto has made some amazing tunes but so has PvD but based on their more recent work i would have to say PvD cos Tiesto plays techno and im not as keen on that.

Tiesto all the way. In July last year he played one of the most amazing sets I've ever heard at one of his 6 hour sets. PVD is good, very good, but Tiesto varies what he plays so much - sometimes PVD is a bit too mellow and I daresay boring. It got a bit stale at the Reflections album launch party at GK. That said, the live performance of Time Of Our Lives was one of the coolest things I've seen.

Anyway, I digress.

Tiesto gets my click!

wtf! You have got to be kidding me. You have gotten that completely the wrong way round. As if Tiesto is in the least bit techno orientated in his sets. PvD on the other hand actually is.

And you need to get your ears cleaned out if you honestly think Tiesto is a better producer/DJ than Paul van Dyk.

Personally I find Tiesto more interesting. I like PVD fine, and his remixes are really cool, but Tiesto has a more varied sound for me. Plus he's an amazing remixer. PVD has lost some major points after his last album, so I'm hoping I can find more of his stuff.

The sets I have heard from Tiesto have certainly been bit more on the techno side. Sure PvD slips a few tracks in there but the guy's mainly trance.

Production wise from the last year neither of them has released that many good tracks or remixes. Only one worth noting from this year would be Nothing But You. Traffic from Tiesto was nice but not an anthem breaker.

Pvd will always be better....Tiesto is great dont get me wrong but at times i dont like his mixing and track selection.....PVD is a god he is 1 if not THE biggest but 1 of the most respected DJs/Producer's he has been doing it for so long and has been getting better over the years and im sure we will see him progress more, sure tiesto will too but wont be better than PVD.....PVD is a god....Tiesto is just trying to following gods footsteps...

This one is really a toss-up. Both have released some good compilations and some real powerhouse trance tracks. However, I do think that both of them have released their best stuff in the past.

interesting topic.. personaly i've always liked pvd a bit better than tiesto but overall i'd have to give the edge to pvd... i only say this b/c i like the type of music he produces a bit better and his music really has a signature to it.. what i mean by this is that once you hear it, you know right away that it's pvd.. simplicity within trance is also an admirable trait when you can do it... pvd can make simple loops sound so well together without making it boring.. that takes a lot of skill in my opinion.. but in terms of dj'ing i'd have to give that to tiesto for i feel there is a bit more creativity within the transition of the tracks as well as his music selection..

What tracks I feel have a more techno element to them might not be what everyone else pigeon holes them as. His set at Innercity was (in my view anyway) more on the technoish side. Might not be techno by genre tho.

erm. No, it doesn't work like that. Techno is techno, and not anything else. What genre a track falls into is universal; we don't just have our own interpretations of what track goes where (I mean you can try if it makes you happy, but at the end of the day u'd be wrong). Truth is I can't think of Tiesto ever playing a techno track, and I can name countless that pvd has. I suppse on the rare occasion you might catch tiesto playing a tribal-techno track like ira or sunshine. Basically, admit you are wrong dammit! :p

I can say one techno track Tiesto has played is Umek Gatex.

I don't understand why PvD is so popular... his tracks seem boring to me (like Nothing But You, We are alive, they all have have like the same beat and mellow melodies which can get boring and repetitive. also his synths/strings/whatever don't sound that great). Tiesto on the other hand has done some great remixes/productions like Kane - Rain Down on Me, Skin - Faithfulness, The Roc Project - Never and Obsession.
