There have been alo of topics about cheese that and cheddar this. But what is cheese? I can understand that it is commercial trance but how does it differ from real trance?
And most important of all is any of these artists chessy?
Sunbeam
DJ Tiesto, Gouryella
DJ Promo
Astral Projection
Armin van Buuren
Cosmic Gate
DJ Tatna
Darude. Dont listen to him so often but he got me into electronica.

Personally I'd class most of those as NOT cheesy Especially Gouryella. Astral Projection, Armin! and probably Cosmic Gate (though they've done some cheese, they've also done some very good stuff too).

Nothing Cheesy about those artists listed there. Most cheese comes in a commercial style and in the form of Europop wrongly labeled as trance.

Weei!
Good that I am not one of those cheese-listeners although that Im 14, which seems to be the age they are mentioned about.
Now to the next question. Whats Europop?
Is it like the videos u hear on MTVe Dancefloor Chart(or something)?
Cos sometimes I cant see the difference between some(few) of them and trance. Guess that I have been brainwashed or something, oh well.

cosmic gate ranks as trashy trance in my book. Their productions of late and deejay mixes of late have sucked. They were capable of better but they rather see in mediocre land.

Most of those videos are probably europop type stuff. I would also label DJ Sammy as a big europop artist. Europop is basically pop but instead of using traditional instruments the band has used electronic synthesizers to create the background for the vocals. And in europop, there are always vocals. Mostly it is very upbeat and happy sounding. Basically anything you hear on the radio will be europop.

Definitely, although I do have a soft apot for some of the remixes of Darude - the JS16 Dark mix of Feel the beat was good, and I like the Ariel mix of Sandstorm too

.. how are these artists "pop" ???
id class pop as shite like
britney, christina, hear say.. e.t.c...
.. they have to be labelled as trance... maybe not "proper" trance.. but
"uplifting trance" or "vocal trance"...

i think cheese is being blown out of proportion cos as it stands... any song thats...
1/ got released in charts
and/or
2/ got lots of vocals
and/or
3/ has a bouncy uplifting feel good tune to it
gets described as fcuking cheese..
.. just cos a song isnt mindless synth after mindless synth doesnt make it cheese..

What?!
I thought that any song that had a bit of success was cheese. Now you are saying not. A confusing world we are living in.
Enough of that. Im just trying to find out what is labled as cheese. If someone says Darude is cheese and you dont, argue about that but dont call me a bloody retard. Come with an argumentation/statement instead(as you have done) but dont call names, that aint gonna help.
Darudes music is alright, whatever if its is cheese or not.(im not saying that it is or isnt). It doesnt matter to me, just as long as I like the music Im happy.

It seems that if the tune is written in major it's more radio friendly. Minor, blues, etc. tunes have a darker sound and less of a mass appeal. So I guess what makes you feel "happy" leads to cheese.
BTW it seems that once you stay true to your work and don't try to divulge to the masses you will not become a victim of the cheese. Therefore losing credentials...and people. (It has happened before.)
