When you see 14 year olds going down the street going 'scooter yay' or 'i got the new ian van dahl' or 'wow flip n fill made field of dreams' which they blatantly got on the cheap from force & styles then made a ton out of, it's time to get down on this shit style of dance, not trance, dance.

Anyone else feel this and want reocgnition to goto the true producers and not the cheesemongers who make a ton by ripping melodies off and giving people without a clue a reason to bash us Exclamation

flip n fill need to be shot.. no questions asked... Razz

... as for scooter, yeah theve turned cr@p lately.. but they have done a fair bit for the scene... esp happy hardcore in england Laughing Laughing

.. also i cant see much wrong with ian van dahl tunes.. maybe on the commercial side.. but who gives a fcuk.. ?? same with dj sammy.. his 2 big tunes (heaven & boys of summer) have also had a massive inpact around the world.. Razz but again slightly cheesy & commercial..

BUT.. if u get rid of all the commercial cheesy stuff... your left with underground music only.... so basically only ppl that use the net & buy 12" know about the music ??

in the late 90s & 2000 esp, we saw releases like fridge - angel, rank 1 - airwave, armin - communication, gouryella, out of the blue, system f - cry and many many more make it into the top 40 for singles, and be played on t he radio esp by guys like Jules, and the radio was more listenable, my gripe is how stations will push the weaker artists who do nothing for the underground scene, leaving the harder working ones with less money than they should make for the talent they have

The only argument in favour of cheese, is that it keeps the annoying kiddies away from our music Smile While they're bopping away in their bedrooms we're dancing our asses off in clubs, listening to the good stuff Very Happy

I totally understand that, but I don't like to see these talentless merchants getting praise for stealing ideas & the likes

Yes I agree with ya! I'm also tired of the "fjortisar" that goes around thinking their listening to trance when they are listning to some cheesy 2 minutes coffee break song just made to bring in some money... Rolling Eyes

The thing that irritates me the most is the stealing and ripping thing.. like I just heard a tune by some cheese producer and it suddenly reminded me of Twisted by Svenson and Gielen... or even worser Scooter who is ripping Buuren, C-quence and Fictivison, Abba etc without giving any credits for it.. or another thing that is even worser then that is a Starsplash remix that I heard that was a ripp of Faster Harder Scooter...

Like isn't it alittle bit fucked up when they are ripping from the ripp masters? Rolling Eyes

Does it excist one single cheese tune that isn't a cover???????

Spherix, in some ways I agree.

Scooter - Weekend, completely rips Push- Strange World.

Dj Scotty - Dont stop the Party rips - Depeche Mode - Just cant get enough

Mystery - The Mystery - Rips off Rank 1 Airwave

Blank & Jones - Beyond Time - Rips off Rank 1 Airwave

Kontakt - Show me a sign Rips off Binary Finary - 1998

Flip & Fill - Field Of Dreams -Rips from FORCE & STYLES

DJ Vibes - Outer Spaced = BLATANT rip from Dune - Million Miles

Question is though, why dont they ever get sued? How do they get away from it? Do they have some sort of agreement? Confused

I can only speak from personal experience but where I live all teeny boppers listen to RnB, Garage or Skater Rock. Its the boy racers and people in their early twenties who listen to commerical cheese like karren parry, flip n fill & Scooter. Then again i do live in near lots of flats and in a council estate.

thats same in my area...

the big clubs in the towns play either... RnB or "Cheese"... (uplifting, vocal trance)... thats all it is to be fair...

.. id much prefere to go out round town and listen to some banging cheese in clubs, thats makes me feel happy, makes me wanna dance and that i can sing along too...

rather than the "proper trance" so many of you lot go on about which is very deep and moody.. and stuff you cant wave your hands in the air to..

.. gonna make an argument.. but who gives a... Razz

I dont like all that cheesy stuff. For the odd grin here and there it can be ok. Blatent rip offs of tunes I dont like, Kontact (bang pointless lyrics over one of the greatest tracks in track and see if we can sell some copies.).

As for the local club scene, its full of the shite! Whats even more annoying is they slap a decne ttune in the middle of it, say have XTM playing then mix it into a PvD tune and blend it out into DJ Sammy. Thats what gets folk the wrong idea becuase they think all those tunes must be the same style.

Still, good point on the 14 year old bit, gives the kiddies something to listen to without hoping onto our music.

Frankly I don't care. I like some of it and some of it is crap. But it has nothing to do with whether its cheesy or not, just some tunes I like.

u forgot that fragma song that ripped off cafe del mar

..but generally lets be happy that cheese is protecting our good music from the horrible masses...and it feels greeat when u see stupid d*cks thinking they are ravers and what not bcoz they bought dj sammy's album, coz u kno they are pathetic fad-followers, you know you are better then them, and they are ultimately elevating you above them...no matter what they say, you ARE better then them...it does wonders for the ego

I used to like a lot of cheesy-stuff about a year or two ago Sad , but now: nope Cool !
But I really understand why some dance/euro-trance producers make "covers" and easy-build-up tracks; because they want to earn some fucking money on their work..... Rolling Eyes

Get the good trancemusic into daylight, that is my "pray" to all the commercial record companies out there, which just release a lot of commercial music like r'n b, rock, hip-hop, rap, pop, punk, etc. Trance, or perhaps electronic music in general is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay underrated!
And I really hate the thought of people saying that it is music they could make within 10 minutes.........they don't have a fucking clue and say that everything sounds the same, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh. Evil or Very Mad Confused

it serves its rolw within the music community and it does a fine job at it Laughing
it keeps the lil kiddies away from the genuine stuff Wink

As for them making all the money, well thats the road they took, im sure every producer out there knows that if they make cheese, they will make money... some go down that path and others dont Razz

Don't get me started on that road......I had a huge argument at a place I used to work with a friend who was also there at the time, about making trance music. He was of the opinion that it took no skill and could be slopped together in a few minutes Evil or Very Mad He's into rock and grunge, indie and a bit of metal BTW. Hah, we were arguing so much that most of the office stopped working to watch Laughing

Still what bothers me is idiots claiming they are listening to trance and they are listening to dj sammy and then you explain that it is euro trash and they seem shocked.
