Post subject: Buying and Sampling Music |
|
|
As much as I love trance, I must say, I don't think there is any other genre that has as much good quality stuff as bad. I live in Canada so it's hard to get a hold of the latest stuff. The electronica selection at HMV is also a joke.
My question is, any suggestions as to where I can sample music before I buy it? I'm sick of buying albums off the web and not getting the opportunity to listen to it first. Some of the stuff I have bought based on reviews are so terrible! haha.. and what's worst is if I order it from the UK the pound is *beep* expensive!!! What do you guys do and how do you decide whether or not it will fit your particular tastes?

Many producers now have samples on their website, so I think that is the first place you should look.
Most online stores also have short soundclips, but probably not on albums (at least not of all songs). Compilations are probably hardest to find clips from...

| have you ever listened to those clips? they're so pathetic! they're like 30secs and most tracks take at least 2mins of listening to get an idea of what the feel of the song is like!

yeah, that's right
some webradio's broadcast the albums (like tranceairwaves.com) but usually a while after the release and it's hard to know when it's broadcasted ...

A lot of sites do release samples for albums. HMV.co.uk do have a selection available.
GOod places to hear single releases is www.only-djs.com as they have the whole track there for you to preview.
