with the introduction of CD decks you can now scratch with, you can now do everything on a CD deck you can with a vinyl deck..plus CDs have so many advantages over vinyl..

1/ longer life span
2/ cheaper
3/ easy to promote white label artists (no record pressing fee's)
4/ make your own CD's - previously unheard material (MP3.com // Peoplesound.com)
5/ with the use of P2P proggies (kazaa e.t.c) you can make CD's that would have cost you £4 a time on vinyl for chart releases, more for promos and stuff..
6/ track time display - easier to find the point you require in the track
7 less storage space.. 80 songs on one CD.. how much room would 80 vinyls need ??

whats your opinions ppl ?? i know have the *.mp3 of your favourite song.. will never hold the same feelings as holding the 12" of your tune... but its alot more practical...

peace out //.

I think vinyl is unlikely to die anytime yet and although it is more expensive vinyls have that kind of exclusive feel to it as not everyone has vinyl

i don't think vinyl will die just like that....but i'm pretty sure cd will take over more and more....

...in a few years engineers will probably come up with something superior to cd/dvd....and then we will discuss if cd's will die Razz

Having the 12" version of a certain song is more of a buzz that having it on Cd or in digital form, makes it a little more meaty.

70 songs on CD is possible, mp3 format that is. Most, typically lenght of about 7 mins that I make my CD's with are 10 tracks, unmixed that is.

I do have quite a lot of my collection on mp3, practical reasons, saves fannying about changing the deck or cd every 5 minites. Do a bit of digital mixing so its useful for that.

I dont think it will die, just slowly get used less.

Such is progress.

Final Scratch allows you to go from Digital to Analog...meaning u can hook up your tables to a laptop and use ur MP3's to play songs on Binary encoded Vinyl....A lotta of DJ's are usin it now..PAUL VAN DYK has been using it for quiet a while. It's pretty Impressive.

I think vinyl's here to stay for a while. Tracks have to be pretty popular brfore they put them on CDs. I don't know why the labels do that, I would think making CDs would be cheaper than pressing vinyl. Oh well.
