out of interest what do you all think of "Special D" ??

i personally think

Special D - Come With Me (Club Rmx)
Special D - Home Alone (Club Rmx)

are both fantastic tunes...

they got the build ups, the break downs, hard pumping beat, great melodys and some interesting vocals..

give us your opinion...
cheers!

hmm comparing to the other north german cheese acts he is kinda good.. Come with me was kinda good, remind me alot of Starsplash.. but Home Alone was 100 % pure cheeeese imo.. and I'm not really a fan of his remixes either Rolling Eyes I'm not really a fan of the north german cheese Razz

IMO Home Alone was awful, and Come With Me is also pretty dire, far to 'poppy cheesey trance'

Starsplash are good, well to be fair (IMO Again) they only did 2 good songs so far which are

Travel Time
Endless Fantasy

I know a lot of others disagree, but for that kind of sound you like , id recommend Redwing - My Heart is calling , and Redwing - Place 2 Be
Redwing are pretty good IMO Cool

Well I've heard Come With Me and rather liked it. It's a nice change from Ferry and Armin for sure. I would call it cheese but who cares. I still liked it. It's very happy sounding which I always like in a song. I can omly take so many dark and depressing songs.

Hello!

I LOVE THIS DANCE STYLE!!!

Come With Me - solid track...but I prefer the Groove Coverage Remix! Reminds me a-lot of Re-Flex ("Ubap"). 8/10

Home Alone - little more commercial, but the melody is very weak.. none of the remixes help Crying or Very sad 5/10

Sven R-G Vs. Bass-T "The Sign" - very nice melody...I strongly recommend this track. There are 2 different versions of the original that I have found. (1) regular vocal and (2) high pitch vocal.. both are good. 8/10

Second Run "Seasons In The Sun (Radio Edit)" - this is my favorite song! Very Happy Though it sounds more like Mandy & Randy than Special D, it has that Trancy cheesy sound. 10/10 The cd single was hard to track down, but I found a copy at www.skivhugget.se The remixes (single mix, party mix, extended mix, & club mix) are mediocre. I really wanted an extended radio mix. Evil or Very Mad !!!

Lou "Let's Get Happy (Marco De Jouge Mix)" - sounds very Special D..
6/10

LOL, what's the matter with you calling everything cheesy?
Cheese tastes great on pizza, and so does it sound (with pizza) Razz

I love happy doodle and high pitched angelic female vocals and such, it's just great. How come you hate it ? Wink
Some of your cheesier examples might be Mark 'Oh Tracks, such as the new "Stuck On You", which i like very much. I know it's always the same and nothing new, but hey - as long as it has a steady catchy beat... yay Very Happy
Anyway, i read that Mark 'Oh was one of the first high-pitching DJs and the craze about that only started years later (Scooter i.e.).
I remember "Love Song" by him, which was very much like that.
Yeah, i know i'm not an expert, but that's the way i see it. Maybe that's not elite enough for you real clubbers, what would the world be without newbies Razz
As you may have noticed it was mainly the commercial branch of techno music which i was talking about, but i DO like Scooter, Mark 'Oh, Starsplash, Pulsedriver, Novaspace, Groove Coverage at least as much as i love to listen to Ferry Corsten/System F, Apoptygma Berzerk, Happyhardcore muzak, ATB, Sven Väth, Paul van Dyk and so much more.
I'd rather accept the cheese in commercial tracks than let that music disappear and leave techno music completely to underground.
Special D is cool, i know his remix of Jan Waynes 1,2,3 keep the spirit alive (or whatever) and that pitching wasn't worst he could do.

Ah, btw, i got a question. /me newbay doesn't exactly know the differences between the many techno genres and likes to know which one i'm listening to.
What might "Novaspace - Paradise" or "Novaspace - To France" (especially Nova Mix Club Edit) be for a genre? Is it that "uplifting trance" you were talking about in another thread? Another fine example would be "Lichtenfels - Sounds Like A Melody". Or "Pulsedriver - Galaxy". I admit i have no clue, it is kinda "clubby", much emphasis on the beat, it has those "wow-wow"s in it (dunno how you call it, it's just there), like in the first seconds of "Floorfilla - Technoromance" (or maybe it was one of the remixes). Yeah, that's the commercial stuff, much likely you don't even care what i write, if you read it that far anyway Wink
I'd appreciate any hint, thanks in advance.
I'd like to point out that there's very few techno/trance tracks i do not like and i listen to a variety of sorts of club music. Theres cheesy stuff and not-so-cheesy stuff, i love it ^_^
Flame me if you want, if you think i'm lame. If you want to express hatred i suggest you to buy heavymetal records or so Wink (j/k guys)

love and peace, mates
(p.s. mid-90s german techno acts rule... i loved "Das Modul" ... hell, i even listened to "Blümchen" and enjoyed it)

Welcome to the forums, first of all. Smile
Well that's a bit of a mouthful...
I think you'll find that we are a very nice lot in these forums, I can almost guarantee you won't be flamed.
About Pulsedriver - Galaxy and even Special D. - I would put them in the category of Club music, plain and simple. It isn't trance or techno, just a easy-listening form of electronic music. Most of the songs you mentioned would fall under this category. Probably Sounds Like a Melody (which I really like!) would be under uplifting trance, although it might also be considered Club. It all depends on your point of view - electronic music is very hard to classify sometimes.

Too much cheese by half.

The track in questio, all be it a tad on a chedder side is reasonable.

The only flamming that goes on in these forums is when we want to get the barbi out....well, im up for some steak, get the bad boy cranked open.

Bile Demon ---> well said my friend !!! Laughing Laughing

.. the music may be cheese, but its bouncy, uplifting, happy, vocaly and generally makes me wanna dance... (not that i can Razz)

... id personally class special d as "trance" and then the music you ppl are refering to as "progressive" endless beats that dont build up, dont kick off and basically bore the fcuk out of me...

when i listen to music, i want it to make me happy.. and if this genre does it.. then so be it...

insidently... would you all class happy hardcore as cheese too ?? cos i proper love that stuff as well.. 180bpm's of pure fcuking delight !!!

and then i also love stuff like dumonde, dj kim / alphazone, dj rock, e.t.c.. all of which produce songs with something about it..

i personally think all current releases from PVD, tiesto, ferry e.t.c are b*llocks and bore me!! since 1999/2000 they have gone down hill..

thats my 2 cents.. dont mean to pi$$ anyone off by it...

l8ers..

¨

how the hell can you class Special D as trance!?!?! It would be like class Madonna as hardcore Razz Special D is a pure north german dance producer! so why not call his and all the other north german producers style for "North German Dance"? Dance with some harder elements innit right?

Well I did like most of the artist that you mention some years ago but well I kinda grew away from the thing we call in Sweden "Fjortis Musik" Wink
