The electronica music isn't important in my country. Radio and TV programs don't dedicates it all the attention that it deserves. They only puts shits as Enrique Iglesias, Jenifer Lopez, Cristina Aguilera, and others, but here nobody knows names like at least Tiesto, Armin V. B., Oakenfold, Solar Stone, etc.
Only plays world hits like Sandstorm, 9PM Till I come, Modjo's Lady or the recent Junior Jack's E Samba.
They thinks that Dance is for children or mad heads at the club (Boom, boom, boom Very Happy )
Germany, Holland, England, etc How are seen trance artists in your countries?

Hi. Here in the US no one knows anything about dance music, not on radio or TV. On Fridays and Saturdays the radio stations will have mix hours, but they are remixes like Justin Timberlake, J.Lo, and stuff. No actual people though. So don't feel alone.

Same here in Canada Sad OR at least where I live. There are some big clubs in Ontario. The only songs that get airplay here with regards to electronica is E-Type - Life, Darude - Sandstorm, DJ Sammy feat. Yanou - Heaven, ect.

here in Norway some radio-stations play electronica....friday and saturday nights it's trance and house etc....in the mornings they play chillout and ambient...

on tv there's almost nothing though....you might be lucky to catch a song maybe once a week...

to see some trance music vids you need to tune into german TV-channel Viva...they have a few hours per week dedicated to club-music...a lot of scooter and such, but also PvD and Blank & Jones.... Smile

Same here in Denver. There's a radio show that plays electronica for an hour @ 11PM. There used to be a dance station, but that only lasted for a year. One club here has some pretty good acts once in a while. As for media attention there is nothing. The new Spiderman show on MTV has some trance. MTV used to have a show AMP, that was awesome. I think that trance is pretty popular in Florida though.

When it comes to TV there's not a lot about here in the UK. Channel 4 run 4 music shows but they aint really all that good. As for radio coverage, its not too bad at the weekend as you've got radio shows from the good Judge and a man called Andi Durrant spins some good trance on his show.

I think Radio 1 has good stuff if you know when to tune in. lol I get it over the Internet and hear some killer mixes on there. I heard MTV2 sometimes has dance shows but I couldn't see its site until this last week so. Oh, and dance is pretty established in Florida but I dunno about trance, it seems more like jungle or breakbeat. Maybe it's just where I've been. Still, that's one state out of 50! But movies, that's another story.
Movie soundtracks, especially more futuristic ones, have the best soundtracks. Not a lot of popular people but great music.
Peace, Raynbo

Is it a bad thing that trance is staying, for the most part, underground? As long as it remains unpopular, no big companies will start looking to commercialize it, and take it over. As long as it stays in it's current stage, people will make money from their hearts, and not just purely for money.

Good point. I just don't get the whole oh, we have to be underground thing. It's like once stuff is heard all over it suddenly becomes bad? I like a lot of commercial music. But yeah, underground's good as far as corruption.

hmm so... if I get you right you are first complaining on how hard it is to get a hold of all the new tunes but you don't want it to become easier to get a hold of all the new tunes? Rolling Eyes

I don't want that trance should become a pure comercial style but hey a little more room in the massmedia should be good... like I want to hear the style I like as much as possible Rolling Eyes

otherwise I like how it is @ the moment.. Rolling Eyes tho it would be better if you could go to a usual record store to buy the new trance stuff Rolling Eyes

I never complained about that. Someone else did, but it's really not that hard to find tunes...you just need to look harder.

Good point. Or we could start seeing more acts like Scooter and other psydo-trance.

this is a good post....

in my country electronic music is getting big, but it`s like a "fake" big because everyone speaks about electronic music, but no one really knows what it is. the "scene" is filled with a lot of stupid people who think they got the last word on electronic music.

anyway, i agree with RayvinAzn. i think trance is good the way it is now, not too commercial, but not too underground. the perfect balance, and it really isn`t that hard to get records, you can get anything you want over the internet.
