Must say that i agree with ya on some things
It's the same here and have been during the last year
Like the only music they play on tv and radio is that kinda music.. tho I don't listen to radio so that don't bother me so much but when you are browsing the tv channels the first thing you hear @ the music tv channels is that kinda music =/
haha they don't even play shit like Scooter anymore it's that bad

Yeah, hip-hop and rap is really popular at the moment. I like some of it, however. Even in 1999, there was no trance played on the radio here except for Sandstorm, so really I don't notice the difference.

On a side note, Trance has never had any air time, or radio time. Second, the music I love will probably never be on the radio, simply because it comes from the heart, rather than the wallet

well...trance is normally dj friendly but not radio/tv friendly
unless it's commerical i never see any real good trance tracks make it to the big in the public.
it's sad..i wish trance can work more than just on the dancefloor
i like some hip hop n rap..the rappers r ok but the beats n samples r quite crap

I kinda prefer trance to be underground-ish.
I'd hate it to become mainstream, say many artists producing lots of medicore songs, eg latest charts.
Occasionally we'll get the odd song thats big in the clubs and the charts, latest example Pretty Green Eyes, but I prefer my trance to stay on my vinyl and the clubs.
Thats my two pence worth anyway.

I know! I hate it when that happens. Some good trance can become popular without becoming cheese.

Yeah.. RnB really was getting big in my home city.. having RnB nights at some clubs but it seems to have calmed down.. going to commerical dance... but trance never really been much on the dance floors because they dont make as much money playing it well if they made more money playing it.. it would always be playing?

RnB, that shit gets played everywhere and its saturated the chart. The, Garage, so solid's and all the rest of the urban music muppets should give it a rest. I dont like that style of music and never will. If I had the choice, I'd listen to all the clubland comps that have to put up with garage and rnb all the time.

Yes you pay money to go into a club to have a good night but you end up hearing the same stuff in the club as you already did thirty times over in the car on your way!...
Too much! And too little variation.... I think the mainstream listeners are all pathetic and should be shot in the head multiple times until the realise there are many more types of music and a lot of it is much better than what they are cramming their heads full off.
Shoot them I say and only leave the rest of us

I think Andy is more trying to say that the scene is dominated by the self proclaimed 'MOBO' (music of black origin) awards etc, plus the 'bling' attitude of the eminem wannabe's leaving a bad attitude on the streets and there is a lot of problems in 'black' places with gun crime & stuff, im not bashing them, but in the uk that is a reality, but i think it's just another 'in' sound, they go through them all, hump a style til its annoying then move on, it's how it all works, esp here, styles forced onto us.
Hope u understand more how he meant it, not to bash the colour, just the kind of musical lack of talent we have right now, like Beyonce, her song riff is used on nearly every advert and it makes u want to slice your head off

| It's not just a black problem. I grew up, and currently reside in, the biggest place for Rap/Hip-hop in the world, and the place it started. And I'll be the first one to say that the problems on the street's aren't just a "black" thing. It's a problem faced by Chicanos, Vietnamese, Chinese, Koreans, Laotians, Cambodians, Japanese, Taiwanese, and Thai. Basically every race has formed gangs around, and it's not because of rap. It's because of poverty, and pride in ones culture.
But I digress from my point. My point is, Rap isn't good music anymore, because nobody raps from the heart, or expresses themselves. They're in it for their wallet, and nothing more. But I also see that happening in other styles of music...Rock is that way, and has been for decades. Pop STARTED that way. And yes, I dare say it; Trance is doing the exact same thing. Super-DJs? Top 100 DJ-lists? DJ's in commercials, on Coke cans, doing concerts? Pop culture is creeping into the trance scene as well, gentlemen, and we can all see it, if we look hard enough. So let's be careful what we call "popular" music, because the day is fast approaching when Trance becomes "Pop" music too, just like Rock, and Rap.

I watched the MuchMusic countdown on TV the other day, the countdown of the top 30 music videos in Canada, and it was unbelieveable how many were this hip-hop crossed with pop stuff. Most of it sounded the same.

Hi!
I live in the United States so belive me when I say that it is pretty bad. I have accepted it and have began to truly appreciate European dance music. But now that Rap (or what my friends call "booty music") has polluted the European scene, I am concerned. It seems to me like not only have the U.S. record companies gained control over here, but they want control in Europe as well. GREED.
http://www.tunemag.dk/dancechart/
THIS IS SO SAD!!! This is a place where artists like Ace of Base, Daze, Aqua, Safri Duo, Sash!, Robert Miles, Me & My, Scatman John, etc.. shined bright. Now it has been taken over by the invaders!!!
Every summer I looked forward to all the wonderful Scandinavian dance artists to release their music. Nowdays it's just aweful. The only place I could find happy music is Italy. But even those artists don't release very much.
On the bright side, I don't think European dance will ever die. But let's just hope this is just a faze.

Same thing people keep accusing Oakenfold of, Paul never really claimed to be producing trance anymore, just music that he likes.

They've called themselves techno because most people think that all electronic music is techno - they've never heard of trance or house before. It's just something so people know their electronic.
