I'd like to get my own equipment so that I can add some more fun to my parties. I've gotta wait till I turn 18 because I waited till I was 17 to get my leaners >=( . Anyone help me out? I dont know exactly what things I need to start with and I know the people at the store will get me to buy stuff I wont need. Some good brands? Is American DJ any good? Any information would help out a lot!

Well, you can mix CD's or mix 12/7" etc or mix both together. I've got a dual turntable setup with a Numark CD mixer.

Good tip is to pick up some 12" tunes and get a basic starter DJ pack, no point shelling out a shitload when your learning. Good brands to look for are Numark, Citronic and Stanton. if your hosting your own house parties summit likes this is a good setup:

2 x Turntables
1 x Mixer
1 x CD Mixer
Separate Amp & good quality speakers.

Good place to check out some of the equipment you can buy is www.htfr.com, www.sapphires.co.uk/, www.planetdj.com/.

Thanks a lot man. After getting down the process of mixing I can make further decisions on my own. Parties will get so much better. Gotta learn somewhere right?
