Post subject: funny day....or maybe not... |
|
|
well...actually it started last night....i was about to check some mails before going to bed...but my computer was not online...i checked the connection and cables and all and couldn't find any errors at first...then i realized that my router didn't show a green light for my computer (the other computers at home seemed fine)....so i messed about for a couple of hours to find out what was wrong....but no luck....
then i got to work this morning....and turned on my computer screen...and it showed the bios-screen very strange i thought...since i left the computer on when i left it on friday....i exited from bios and expected the computer to start up...but no...."hard disk not present" was the message i got... i rebooted many times....got the same message....then i took out the hd and put it back in (it's a laptop)...and it started up but it took looooooong for windows to start up...when it finally came up it acted really strange....worked fine for 1 minute...then just stopped for a minute (cpu usage still at 1%)...i did some checks to see if i had any intruders or viruses on it...but no luck....so i decided to restart...
well...that was the last time i did that...because the computer would never restart after that...just said no harddisk...or went to the "loading windows" screen...but no further...
since my harddisk is pretty new (only 4 months old) i thought it was something wrong with the computer...so i tried it in another laptop at work...still nothing...it was all dead....the other laptop didn't even recognize the harddisk
so in the end i had to order a new pc....and had to get a server out from our server-room to use at my desk until the new one arrives
luckily it worked putting my 2.5" laptop-harddrive into the server to rescue my files for work
then my wife calls...she says the tv isn't working anymore....it's only 3-4 weeks since we bought it so it was a bit unexpected....but we had a warranty so it was ok....
later on i placed an order in a webshop to get myself a new network card at home....along with it i ordered a new cpu-fan (current one is really noisy)...chose to pay by visa....but it wasn't accepted
had to pay on arrival instead (more expencive)...
ok....then i got home....and the tv was working fine again (phew)...
then i had a look at my computer....and the network was working fine again....weird...
so at the end of the day it didn't turn out that bad afterall...just that i didn't to ANYTHING AT ALL at work....and i've ordered a network card i don't need...(it's only $10 so it's no big deal)...
any of you had any strange experiences lately?

The modern age of computers, sure they have a mind of there own.
On the subject of strange things, the other day I check my account balance online and it registered a very nice sum indeed. Went to work, finioshed, needed a £10 to buy something from the shop. Went to the cash machine.
Put me card in, pin number, selected £10 to wqithdraw and got a message saying "Insufficiant funds Account Balence £0", kept trying but the same message kept coming up.
Got home, went to check me balence and it displayed the same amount as it did when I checked it earlier on.
Bizarre.
