Post Post subject: "Vs." tracks Reply with quote

There's a decent number of "vs" bootleg tracks around, otherwise known as mashups.. some legal, most unofficial, and we've seen the likes of Paul van Dyk mashed together with Dr. Dre on "Forget About Angels" and many others..

these tracks are normally 2 totally different tracks blended to form one for those who don't know, and they usually turn out quite horrendous in my opinion

Any notables out there?

I think Hybrid's work on

Space Manoeuvers "Stage One" combined with BT's "Running Down the Way Up" is rather quality, although there is some additional work done on there.

others?

I don't like those versus tracks....
ok it's sound funny (sometimes great), but theres something thats stop me from buying those records....maybe because its made too cheap, or its sounds too commercial I dont know...
I've bought one bootleg with 2 tracks on it:

Darude VS Bob Sinclair
Jonah VS Moloko

I never played it actually, so why I bought it I dont know

Can't say I'm a big fan of the Vs stuf floating around. Most of its really poor and just a case of fading in one track and fading in the other. there was one which just played two tracks over each other and was to say the least, proper shit.

Can't beat a decent bootleg, like PvD vs JPS - Found An Angel or some of Kid Vicious BeeGee's and Madonna mixes, pretty funky in my view.

Not originally, but it's a bootleg, so both tracks are combined. They often combine titles as well...
One that works quite well is Safri Duo vs. Barthezz - Played a-Move
(Combination of Played Alive and On the Move)

I haven't heard much Megara vs. DJ Lee stuff, but I hear it's pretty good.

A personal favourite is 4 Clubbers - Together (Megara vs. DJ Lee Remix)... though the vocals kinda bug me, the music's great.

i think hes talking more like bootlegs, not proper producers that hook up together.

Ones ive heard are Storm Vs Jonah - Time To Listen
Carte Blanch Vs Billie Ray Martin etc etc. some are good, some are very shit.

quality that one!!

and a lot of you don't understand the first post, when kevin says vs. he doesn't mean two producers who work together to produce a song,
but rather, someone who mixes two songs completely over eachother

just like junkie xl did with sasha - xpander & underworld - cowgirl, which led to the infamous sasha vs underworld - cowpandar

Ferry and Armin did Exhale together, as a project, so it not considered a versus track, or mash-up.

This thread's idea was to find out bootlegs of 2 or more totally different tracks mashed up into one, not to find official original productions where the producers of the track are separated with "vs.". So unfortunately you are as wrong with these as you seemed to have been with your previous post 3 years back.. All of those are official productions, not mashups.

- The full title of Eternity on the vinyl cover is a bit misleading.. Ayla (Ingo Kunzi) only produced a new remix for the track, he didn't produce the original together with Orion (Darren Tate) even if the vinyl cover says so. So that specific track should be called Orion - Eternity (Ayla Mix).

- Proximus is not really a mashup either, nor a bootleg.. it's an official and original track. Picotto only uses a sample from Adiemus - Adiemus which he reworked a bit for the track. The actual track title is Mauro Picotto - Proximus (Medley with Adiemus).

- As said earlier, Exhale is an original collaboration track of Ferry and Armin, not a mashup of 2 different tracks.

- Same as Exhale, Turkish Bizarre is an original collab track of Art of Trance & POB, not a mashup of different tracks.

- Sublime is exactly the same as all the ones above.. not a mashup. Steve Helstrip did co-produce the track but he's officially mentioned only in the credits and in the remix title of The Thrillseekers Remix. The actual track title is just Ferry Corsten - Sublime.

- Aaannd surprise surprise.. same goes for Symbols as well, it's an original track produced by Fictivision together with C-quence, not a mashup of different tracks.
