Post subject: Ambient/Chillout? |
|
|
Can anyone name some good ambient/chillout (what's the difference btw?) CD's at the level of Red Jerry's CD's ((Deep & )Chilled Euphoria) or Michael Woods?
I'm desperately looking; all the ambient CD's I found have vocals which I hate. Can anyone help me getting chilled? I'm stressssssssssssssssssed.

well, i suggest you buy some of the buddha bar CD's. they are quite expensive, but they are worth it.
not ambient/chillout, but really great music, is Vangelis, Craig Armstrong, Enigma, Rabbit In The Moon...

For REAL ambient music you just cant beat The Orb. Only the first 2 albums though (in my opinion) because they are utter classics and this is when they did their best work. If you dont know the album names they are :- Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld and U.F.O.R.B. The single Assassin is definately worth searching for as this is also one of their best pieces of work and isnt on any album.

Yeah, definitely get some Brian Eno stuff, "music for airports" is soo nice. I got a cd by Peter Benisch a few weeks ago and its great and relaxing. I've really been getting into "good looking records" look into the "points in time" series... especially vol. 7 and 8. Aphex Twin Ambient vol 1 and 2 are great, and for a more quirky yet relaxed ambient style try Boards of Canada and earlier Autechre stuff. And if this doesn't work... turn on your vacuum cleaner in another room and chill to the sounds of that just joking

check out-------- moby-ambient...nightmares on wax-smokers delight and mind elevation (some vocals but NOT bad chyna has a beautiful voice). ...funki porcini-fast asleep and the ultimately empty million pounds....FSOL-lifeforms.....the orbital- the altogether....also try Reich-remixed it has remixes by dj spooky and andrea parker. for darker stuff check out dj spooky-he has some great collaborations with other musicians on cd. dj spooky vs. scanner and the new one- optometry has a jazz fusion vibe-its really good.

yea, like some good chillout! wot about 'Deeper Shades Of Euphoria' ?? i dont know how much chilled is on it until i purchase/look at the tracklist, but the advert seemed pritty chilled ...
thrillseekers and solar stone produce some great ambient stuff ... really trancey - but without the beats, brilliant!
