Post subject: Who's got the best scene?! LA fucking SUCKS!!! Worldwide SOS |

OK kids.
Who's got the best trance scene in your opinion worldwide? Let's discuss, because I want the fuck of the US. I'm curious. What are other pockets like in other parts of the world. If there was ONE place that is submerged in trance - I want to be there. I'm sick of dealing with over-opinionated assholes downing my one love.
Any and all aspects of trance to be considered as well as any hard dance styles.
Can I get some input from the i:Vibers out there worldwide?
Jaded Los Angeles (may as well say US) Resident Trancer

depends does it really matter that much, you make it what it seems to you, only you define it by your standards, cant be that bad that you cant personally enjoy trance,
As far as i am aware places from america to uk to europe to singapore to japan to australia all have trance music in their own unique and intresting element, and maybe they all have their strengths and weakness that makes comparison between them meaningless?

i'm not looking for a deep conversation.
i'm simply looking for the state of trance on a worldwide basis, so i can make a decision as to where i want to rest my head.
things here are ok at best. we get big djs. that's a given. it's just the vibe that goes with "glam clubbing". i can't stand it anymore. i'm more into an intimate gathering where everyone there is about the music and not the drugs. i'm sick to death of stepping over e-puddles to get around on the dancefloor. there are good people everywhere, no one understands that more than me. i completely agree with you - anything becomes what you make of it. however, i'm getting a wild hair and want to pull the stakes up and move somewhere else. i've outgrown this place. nothing excites me anymore. i do my events and go on about my business. i have fun doing what i do. i just want to do it with more and different people.
i simply do not need a room of 2000 people to have a good time. especially if those people are only there because someone else told them to be. i want each and every one of those 2000 people to be there because of the music and the music alone.
in case you didn't know, our govt has cracked down hard on dance music in general here in the states. basically, they believe that dance music is directly responsible for drug use among kids in the US (extacy). trust me. they're going to do what they're going to do. i dont want to have to deal with those issues. i want to produce and perform my music without the BS.
it's as simple as that.
so again, my question stands: Who's got the best trance scene worldwide in your opinion and why? I may want to move there!

honestly, holland is near the top of my prospective list. seeing as how i've never been there, i'm pretty oblivious of the place. what are the people like there? in and outside of the music scene.
just curious.
everyone i've met online from holland are as nice as can be and pretty knowledgeable musically.
thanks for the input.

Not sure how yopu mean by this, you on about the best clubs that concentrate on trance mucis as the main pull or where the best productions come from?
Each country has its own channel of trance, different releases worldwide and a variety of clubs. On the subject of who has the best trance scene, dont think anyone has. They all have something different to offer.
and btw, its Ecstasy

My general impression is that Holland got the greatest and best scene, and since it is a pretty small country you can get around to the events easily no matter where in Holland you live

toronto eh? i have a friend that may still live nearby? have you ever seen lady linzee on a flyer for the toronto area?
i hear ya about vibe. that's precisely what i'm talking about. LA is a big city, with big clubs, that host big djs - to a no vibe crowd.
still seaching for that old school vibe of the early 90s.
holland is looking awfully tempting!

Yeah, Holland. As for the people there, I've met many a Dutch person, they're all great, friendly and I've yet to meet one that doesn't speak better English than some Canadians I've met.

There is only one place.
SWITZERLAND!!!!!
That place is just unbelievable!!! The music, the djs, the atmosphere..awesome!!
But no one rocks it harder than us from Melbourne, Australia. Other cities in australia are pretty lame (like Sydney), but yeah for trance music switzerland win me over hands down.

yeah. chris has had a tough run as far as LA parties/clubs. although his past outing went very well.
when he played GIANT when it was still at Circus, he played a great set. his last Spundae night, when he was initially touring for Bedrock 3 was a good night. followed up a couple of weeks later with the actual CD release party at monday night social.
at least his track record here has gotten better with his last 2 outings. i'm hoping from now on it's all upward.
i saw chris play to a very unpacked GIANT crowd in Vegas at Baby's. It was great for me! But not so much for him. They had him OPENING for Robert Oleysyk. I love Robert. Dont get me wrong! He's one of my buds, but DAMN to have Chris come all this way to open. not a good call from the dave dean camp that night.
LA is NOT the UK or Austrailia. But LA is MUCH MUCH better than most other US cities. I guess I should quit bitching. I could be in Nebraska some where for chrissake!!! LOL
Kudos to Tiesto for #1 Ranking on the DJ list. He deserves it. I'm just not happy with where he is musically today. I'm still stuck on his old stuff. Great to see Mr Howells up there too. Diggers show here at the Mayan on Wed was pretty banging for a Digweed set. Very loud too. Compared to his past outings. I really think John genuinely enjoys playing here. Not a good night for the chin scratchers, but a GREAT night for the bangers.
i'm really looking forward to seeing sven vath and ritchie hawtin. last time i saw sven, he didnt let anyone else play. lots of pissed off djs, but one HELL of a night of blistering techno!
enjoy your weekend all!!

for some reason all these big djs play all those classic big anthems when they come to US.. thats kinda sad, they think we are not picky when it comes to tracks, im talking about Digers in mayan and chris fortier at san diego last month and at ohm portland..
your checking Noel sangers' tour this month? i believe its going to be in club sugar LA, he's a biggy now

dance, in general, in the States is still catching on as far as the masses.
i dont want that to happen! EVER!
but we can't really escape that now. i with you. i'd rather hear more upfront music by the big boys. CANE A FUCKING RECORD AT SPUNDAE DAMMIT!
chris playing anthems? that's very weird. 9/10 times he's got acetates and promos no one will have for months. odd to hear him banging out popular tracks.
That's precisely why I avoid the big boys on big nights. Take Tiesto this past Sat. What a clusterfuck THAT was?! I drove by just to see what's up. Glad I wasn't in that madness. I'll take an off night by a big boy over any Sat night gig. I can't stand the LA club scene. Too many fakes there to say they were there, not enough music heads. Sucks too. There are SO many of us here that think the same. But the moment someone caters to the music heads, the mainstreamers would invade and take it to commerical hell. That's what I love about Insomnia. Too far in the ghetto for the fakes to handle, but with the most intimate club set up I've ever been a part of.
There's a reason why Mark Lewis loves it so much.
I'm looking forward to Guy Ornadal and Dan at Spundae though. As well as Mr Bond on 11/22 with Pure Sounds. Beyond that, nothing until NYE. Danny Howells and PvD. Not to mention Luke Slater. I can't wait! I just hope it's not going to be a logistical nightmare the way Spundae was on Sat.
i meant to ask ferry that same question when he was at spundae. i wanted to ask him, "why out of the blue 2 years later in LA?" that's just not necessary. that's living off old stuff. where's the new?! a good track is a good track, but damn don't run it into the ground! use tracks as stepping stones not corner stones. on the other hand, if it's his track and he wants to play, he can.
so what am i saying, I DON"T KNOW!
