Just had a thought, what exacally does DJ Tiesto do in Gouryella? all of the Gouryella tunes sounds more on the Ferry side than Tiesto's.

I dunno to be honest Rog, you have to wonder, but I'm glad ferrys kept the project going & not Tijs as I dont think he has it in him to produce the gouryella sound on his own

I bet Tiesto just watches Ferry do everything, then he gets the credit too, now Ferry has had enough of that, and told Tiesto to fuck off, so he's alone... lol

Hmm, tiesto definitely did something, ligaya just feels as if something is missing. Don't get me wrong it's still an excellent track and ferry corsten is teh man, but it's missing something gouryella, tenshi and walhalla had.
I'm not sure exactly what it is, but it's definitely not there.

Ligaya's bassline and riff is different from the other Gouryella tunes.

It was ripped when it was played on ID&T radio, as far as I know that's the only version about.

Back to the production style of the "old" and "new" Gouryella...
Gouryella, Walhalla, Tenshi & Ligaya...they all are different from each other in a way - and they have a lot in common, too...

They all have a deep going, intensive main melody with superb harmonics...
They all have the same HandClaps Razz
They all were extremely successful and werenīt produced between a few weeks like todaysī productions. They waited long enough so they had the time to compose a completely new, deep melody and integrate new, neverheard elements. So the saying "Time is money" gets an opposite meaning *EXTREMELOL*.

Gouryella has this bubbling cutoff-changing bassline-flow and such a deep music like this was never heard before (I was starting to listen to Trace since Gouryella !!).

Walhalla sounds a little bit more commercial with this e-piano. The bassline is cutoff-changing again, but not so deep like in Gouryella. The main melody sequence is now a little bit simplier (or "more simple" ? - Iīm german Rolling Eyes ). But it takes you anyway...

Tenshi has kinda dirty style and sounds a little bit raw in its way. The Melody is a genius composition and doesnīt loop after 8 Measures. It goes on and on and seems never to end. It ends after 16 (!) Measures and THEN it goes into the loop. Deep melody, deep Rhythm, deep track --> deep emotions Laughing

Ligaya is an extremely deep composition and seems to be a cover from a famous composer (like Barberīs adagio for strings,...). The percussion isnīt something big - standard hihats, drums, the ferry-claps (again Smile ) are just the environment and the bassline fits very well in it and forms the style at all. The first synth arpeggio goes around the main tone and offers more to come Smile (What a review *lol*)......And there IS more to come. The C64 Sound pitches up and down like in Ferryīs Remix of "Adagio for strings" and it gives the track a dramatic-like element. Then the breakdown and then the composition out of strings. deep, intensive, emotional - gorgeous. The synth gives the melody a face and when all parts (Percussion and Bassline) come together you have your perfect Favourite TranceTune and one of the most wanted Songs of all time. The melody is 26 Measures long !! (I hope thatīs right) and is the longest harmony of all tracks. And itīs clean produced without any noises or a bubbling bassline (that is 100% Ferry - he uses this technique also in his moonman productions)...

Surprised

Am I stupid...why the hell do I write this book about ligaya ?!?!?!?

well, f'ck it !! enjoy reading...I JUST LOVE ALL GOURYELLA-TRACKS AND I WANT FERRY TO BRING US MORE GOURYELLA-TUNES IN THE FUTURE..

DO IT ALONE, FERRY !!

I first heard Ligaya from the Armin Van Buuren Set on ID&T Radio...There it was pitched up one semitone...The original track is a little bit lame in my opinion...so IF (lol) you donīt like it much when you first hear it --> pitch it up a little bit and you wonīt be dissappointed.

hmm i havent still heard it, i'll wait for the commercial release, and then make my oppinons on it..

even tho ive heard ppl comparisions, all i goto say is full credit to ferry corsten, you have to admire the guy, after which when tiesto pulled out, for going it alone, and producing it, he couldve easily not have done it, and i wouldnt have held it against him, if he did, theres already the past gouryella tunes, which are gonna bring pleasure for many yrs to come, instead, he took the project on headstrong, and faced upto the challenge, considering the expectations set by the previous gouryella tunes, only a valiant, and very high standard and nothing else, was expected.

almost going into the ligaya production, he had everything against him, the loss of a very talented producer, which from the past work, had been praised and revered thrught the world, for its quality,

but it was made and released, and you goto admire mr ferry corsten for doing so, and with this maybe he can take gouryella into a new direction, and give us sounds and pleasures we've never heard or experinced before, i really hope this is the start of things to come, and maybe tiesto might join later on, you never know, Smile
