what song(s) would you use to introduce someone to trance, personally I'd use Rank 1 - Airwave or Solarstone - Seven Cities amongst others... what would you try ?

hmm, to introduce somone to trance you really need something uplifting or possibly some vocal mixes.
I'd go for airwave obviously or such is life or maybe the rank 1 rmx of System F's Cry

Above & Beyond's What it Feels Like for a Girl remix is what I use on all my normie friends. After that I move em on to a Trouser Enthusiasts remix or two and then Aurora's Ordinary World. After that point, they're typically hooked.

Gouryella - Gouryella has soooo much energy that it'd get anyone hooked! Rank 1 - Airwave is a good uplifting tune to get into for a first timer too. Razz Razz Razz

Personally i like to scare them off a little so i give them the deepest darkest and downtempo ambient side of tek trance. And obviously they are not interested. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

airwave would work probably the best...then I'd suggest Southside Spinners - Luvstruck 2000 (everybody loves this melody Very Happy)....and then u should obviously use some fine Ferrycorsten Trance (Kathy's Song Rmx, Why does my heart feel so bad Rmx,...)

Urban Train *Cosmic Gate remix* if you havent heard it its very smooth and I loved it as soon as I heard it, also the Southern Sun tiesto Mix is great as well. I especially love those Vocals. Airwave is just too mainstream *yawn*, Cygnus - Superstring is another ripper!
off the Beaten track you could give them Kundalini rising - kayomani, its absolutely devine! (hard to find) *sob*

Ahhh Also dont forget Marc Et Claude - LA (moonman's Flashover Mix),..
its got a catchy melody and blissfull vocals.

Anything by BT pretty much. He's been on a few movie soundtracks in the last year, so people are already familiar with him.

When I was helping a friend with his mobile DJ service we opened the show (bowling alley on Sat nights) with a PvD tune from his Seven Ways album.

I gave one of my friends a CD once (as a birthday present) and one of the tracks was Delerium's "The silcene" (DJ Tiësto's In Search Of Sunrise remix).... I think I'd use that one plus these maybe:

Gouryella - Gouryella

Marc et Claude - La (Moonman's Flashover mix)

Push - Universal nation (Oliver Lieb remix)

Safri Duo - Played-a-live (Airscape remix)

But again, this depends on what kind of trance I had to get the guy to hear..... those tunes.... hmmmm....... I'd say that they're mostly for the ones who likes the melodic kind of trance....

Hmm... I think DJ Tiesto - In Search Of Sunrise 2 & 3 have this unique but subtle power, that would slowly bring ppl into trance. They aint boom boom boom, but they aint boring - took me a while to think about this, and then I realised 'Solarcoaster' was on ISOS3. 'Solarcoaster' and 'Seven Cities' would get anyone's attention. Cass & Slide's 'Perception' (altho more prog. house) would get ppl moving, and on the way to a 'state of trance'.
Subtle trance and house cross-overs like 'Perception' and James Holden stuff would be good, it aint like bloody Ian Van Dahl, ATB and Milk Inc, altho these are wot ppl seem to be starting off with (amatures!!) I agree 'Castles In The Sky' was good; yet the remixes are better and it still got a top ten chart spot... That AINT cool, and only five year olds, or ppl who think 'nappy nights' are cool at the local disco would go for it!
Anything by a well known DJ who isn't commercial (sorry Oakie - that means you) will be good; Tiesto, Corsten, Van Buuren (well... these are, but not world-wide, and these have a 'deep and euphoric' style of trance, can range from hard to uplifting, but these pull the punters).
[Sorry... I'm in an Ami moment - but dont stop me now. Razz]
The likes of Picotto - techno and hard trance - wouldn't get non-trancers into trance, but 2 years ago, with Pulsar, Lizard and Komodo being released and getting (lets be realistic) a top 40 spot, ppl started hearing it on the radio, and thought trance was good... record sales was imminant - but I wouldn't say commercial, cuz how many of your friends (apart from us trance-mongos) know who Mr. Picotto is ?? Very Happy

if i wanted to introduce someone 2 trance i would play a very melodic
comercial tune and then lead them onto the underground stuff

like kamaya painters-endless wave
or Blank and jones-cream

The Quest - C Sharp ; Gouryella - Tenshi (Transa Remix) ; Blank & Jones - Beyond Time (Thrillseekers Remix) ; Binary Finary - 1999 ; Lange - Drifting Away (Original) ; Perpetuous Dreamer - Dust.Wav ; and many many more !!!
If Iīd list them all, my post would be closed Razz

Oh !! One more !! You will have success with "Dido - Aria (Armin Van Buurenīs Universal Religion Remix)" <--- This is Trance at its best and always changes anyoneīs opinion about Trance.

The Problem is that many ppl think that the TV/Radio-Stuff out there (like Rocco, Sylver,...) is Trance. For the most ppl -who arenīt into this stuff- everything that has a Bassdrum, is trance.
But the REAL trance is another thing and canīt be heard on TV each day. And when you introduce someone into this "real" trance they are positive surprised...I know what I say. Razz
