Hi Guys,
Before I start just want to say that this site and messageboard is GREAT
Now to the main reason I posted. I have been lulled into the Trance scene and I love it I find my self listening to my trance CD's nearly all the time. Then recently I decided that I 'm gonna give it a go at mixing or try and create my own song - make it a hobby of it or maybe more
I read some articles on this site which were usful on becoming a DJ. Correct me if I'm wrong but it does only tell you how to blend already produce songs together when one finishes so there is not a "pause" inbetween songs. What I am interested in is creating new songs like Tiesto. I was just wondering how Tiesto does it where he gets the material that he mixes with to create new songs from. Are they from other songs or does he get someone to create the music so he can mix with it
Thanks for any help in advanced

Hey, welcome to i:Vibes!
If you check out the DJs/Producers section of the forum, ppl might give you some tips... as for my knowledge of how to make tunes is pritty limited, I'll give it my best shot.
I DJ, blending tunes as you said... an art even (LOL), but then there's producing. A whole different ball-game all together. Finne(FJBR) is another crew member, Pete(Trouser) and Lightworks a regular forum posters, and they prouce some brilliant stuff! Finne wants a Synth (Virus C) LOL... that's easy to be mistaken and that's the best way to make tunes apparently, BUT! There are computer prigrams like Magik, Ejay, Reason and Fruity Loops which are OK computer packages to create tunes alone, but it is advised to use ALL of them to create one tune... I know Finne and Trouser do this kind of thing, and that's why they are so good - rising stars!
Hope this helps...

Reason 2 all the way by propellorhead works for Mac and PC, but if your really serious about producing go with a mac. I usually watch producers use when making tracks besides all the synth machines and what not 9/10 will be using a g4 mac theyre just built for audio/video superiority over pc's. Digital Perfromer is another good program and is Logic. Good luck its a long road...
