Post subject: what to call it? |

man, A lot of track names on my trance cd's are up and over 55 characters long.
look at the CD "perfecto presents another world - Paul Oakenfold CD 1"
the CD name is 40 characters long alone.
track 1
The Host of Seraphim - Dead Can Dance (from the baraka soundtrack)
annoying thing about trance is the names of songs are so bloody long.
if you collect Mp3's it can get annoying, especially when u burn a mp3cd or uploud them to an mp3 player, or play them in winamp, the names are too long for the id3tag support sometimes.
also, what the hell is the entire genre called?
SOme stores and catergorize it is underground, techno, electronica, trance?
what is it called?

oh boy, we/i aint that bad are we?
and 1 other thing im sure i seen this else where you psted the exact same thing, its useless doing multiple posts, as chances are
1) it aint gonnna get more attention/replies
2) its gonna make it harder for the users to post info and follow up, as if you have 2 posts one with say 4 replies and other with 6 replies, then its a mess, aint it, and aint gonna make it easier on anyone having to refer to mulitple threads
3) if you keep on doing it, ie very persistant at it, it's gonna piss ppl off mightly fast
its not just intended or 1 person, but rather a little note to anyone, just to remind them if they do it unintentionally or not :p, i dont mind when it happens the odd few occasions, it rarely happens so its not much of a problem
MP1, MP2, MP3, MP+, MPC, MPP,
doesnt matter, if its illegal music in whatever format, its still doesnt make a difference, the word being ILLEGAL, legal stuff, i.e your own productions and whatnot, are welcome of course,
getting back to your enquiry, as it is a legitmate issue say for a artist/dj that publishes his work and he cant stick his title in there to identify the track

correction you mean too long for ID3 V1.1 as that has a limit of 30 characters or so
but theres ID3 V2 tags which support a hell lot more, its either arround 150 characters i think or 255 which i dont think it is,as thats the total characters a filename can have
use that, the winamp default plugin, and probably majority of the software supports that, in winamp and you should be able to input it in, by clickong on the song title
one word of warning, sum ppl, very few hate V2 tags, as few software that dont support it, but the majority does and its not that much bother if you add V1 tags in there

yeah, but a lote of electronics read only the title.mp3 data, and/or id3v1.1.
Like my mp3cd player, and dvd player.
I put the data in both the v1.1 and v2 slot though.
