What is it about trance that makes it invoke such feeling in people? I mean at it's simplest it's a bass beat and a melody, but in reality it's so much more.
It causes everything else to melt away into the background, leaving just you and the music and that feeling of euphoria that spreads through your entire body. It's like a drug and you end up addicted to that feeling you get, I know I can't get enough of it.

But what is it that causes you to feel that way? What lifts trance tracks beyond the beat and melody?

It's ability to appeal to every sense, and foremost, it's ability to move that part of you that no other type of music can: the mind.
Trance is it's own specialty...to me, each song has it's own:
1.Color: Is the song a bright, light toned song such as Gouryella? Or a more monotonous, dark shaded tune like New York FM?
2. Taste: Yes, I can taste trance. Is the song bitter and hard, or soft and sweet?
3. Sight: The best part of trance to me. Where else can you paint epic landscapes and lush environments while sitting down(or dancing) and listening to music? Trance induces the ability for us to take us whereever we want to, limited only by the infinitum that is our imagination
4. Feel: Some songs have a cold, rough feel to them...a song you would use after warming up and diving into your set...yet on the other side of the spectrum, some songs have a warm, smooth feel to them, like a song you would use to wind down and calm.
5. Hear: Of course, the most obvious aspect. Yet trance transcends beyond just hearing the song as sound waves. because we trance fans hear it in a special way that non trance fans cannot understand or fail to duplicate, it has a special meaning and evokes these emotions in us.
6. Yes, a sixth. Emotion and the mind. This is where trance takes it's toll...it's ability to move us, not just physically, but emotionally.
There you go. My 2 cents on trance.

Since i've never been to a club, party, or rave, i can only say what it must do to me, and that is: it must capture my imagination.
