Rite... I've edited title for a reason, and thats not to bring attention in capitals, plus I think we can turn this into a nice debate....

With how the internet is being policed now, and music companies sueing the users of such sites, it's no wonder they go bust, a small site can't survive, and its the aim of most major companies to have them all shut, of course new ones will open up but they'll target them afterwards.

As you know we have the non-mp3 policy here @ [i:vibes] which means that we will NEVER be targeted for such action, so as all the sites & forums close cause of mp3s being distributed on them, we won't, Its not the way everyone will like it, but it has to be done by them, so by complying we can help keep the news flowing as you love so much.

The days of easy access to tunes with nobody doing anything about it is closing, people who are new to the net in a few years will never know what delights we had, Personally you could keep the mp3 debate going on for years, but I wanna say that even tho most people who do use mp3 buy cd's and discover artists, some don't buy which is what the industry doesn't like, take the money away and the won't exist, so they use their money & power to strangle in a way. Whilst I'm not saying that's ok, we have to comply with it here. if I don't like it, or if everyone online doesn't like it, theres nothing we can do.

Going back to the case of this one being closed, I think it's going to be a more regular occurence, so as sad as it is to see people going down for this, I don't see how it can be avoided.

editing the titles fine mate....i dont mind...the purpose was souly to inform people, so i wouldnt of been bothered if it got locked...but im glad uve seen a positive and constructive way 2 use the post...cheers...

anyway no matter what happends, even if the taliban gain control of the internet, mp3 sites will never stop...which is also a good and bad thing...but the thing about morphuim phase was that it offered mp3 of cd's that were not easily available in the uk. take The blank and jones album for example, the only reason i was gonna d/l it was due to the fact that i couldnt get hold of it in newcastle..and ordering online is more trouble than its worth generally..so d/l it is really the only option. but i would buy if it i could get it. also im not really jipping B&j out of royalites cos ive gave them enough money through buying the previous albums and singles....

I can totally symphathise with you on that point, In the UK, we are subjected to cd's I wouldn't wanna wipe my árse on, they're foul commercial pieces of hard cheese, to get a decent CD, I have to import and wait maybe a week for it to arrive, It's time for the companies to give us what we want, else the illegal trade of mp3s will continue through every p2p service that ever forms. If we had the chance to buy decent quality albums at a price that would allow artists more cut, and less to the fat cats in suits with no interest in music, then perhaps more people would be happy.

finally, ivibes is back up and running Very Happy

ok, i've translated the effigy, of that site, with altavista translator, and im gonna put it up (translation in few places is iffy, but you get the drift of it anyway)

Quote:
Detailed reasons for locking want to be able to do and like here not call, it concern thereby however a very serious legal affair!
Unfortunately the music industry in 2Phases " saw " increasingly somewhat extremely criminal and restaurant economics, which may be correct partially probably also and to denials is not!
By those MP3's in the net, which can be acquired easily, it became completely surely heavier to bring music to customers therefore the industry must produce accordingly newer and more creative music, in order to convince the buyers thereby (however also with more expenditure is connected which), but now enough the speech, lies not (more) in our hand! Here still another greeting to all artists there outside, those by the Mp3-Szene became somewhat more well-known;)
Many dear thanks also to the nice people, which we were allowed to become acquainted with, thus all with which we once to do had!!!

hmm, if you have a read thro that what becomes apparent is that, is that what ian a.k.a ferrycorstenfan mentioned is right on the spot, bout this site in particular anyway, my feeling is and its a pessamistic one, is that this summer, in particular this is gonna happen alot,

plus theres that big blue coloured filesharing network many of you love, that is curently being sued by the RIAA, just like napster Sad, from what i heard was that the record companies gave that network a list of copyrighted tunes to filter out, but there not happy with the way its turned out, they wanted to see more tunes with them red X's and wanted them to also be prepared for other methods and ways of getting arround it like, the file name misspelling, but it seems that they cant cope with millions of millions of tasks set by the RIAA, it almost seems that they did it on purpose

the RIAA in my eyes and many is a bloody Cartel, and cartels shouldnt exsist in this free market society, maybe in a totalitarian society, but i thought that was a thing of the past in this democratic free society, well, i can pick 2 cartels out without hesitation as for there being there only to wield ultimate power to there members, and to maintain it at wahtever the cost

The RIAA and the OPEC (ie the oil producing countries one), and you know what the problem is with these is that we need them, there insidious tactics have slowly and gradually evolved into as that we need them, were dependant on them and anyone chokes without there blessing Crying or Very sad

and as such over the 30/40 yrs they got happy sitting on there backsides doing, sweet FA, watching the money come rolling in, but wait what was that in 1999/2000 NAPSTER!

it should them and everyone that music finally had the chance to flourish and break free from the chains of the legislation and medium it was on, music became finnally what is was supposed to be, irregardless of the format, or medium,

this scared the hell out of the RIAA, all there doing over the past, was being unravelled, finally,

and what they did? youd expect them to embrace it and use it to there advantage and try to embrace the market, instead they swept all notion of mp3's under the carpet, treating it like the dirt on the floor they treaded on everyday.

bad mistake, music isnt supposed to be defined by the format or what its on, its the actually sounds, music, melodies, harmonies that make music what it is, it can cross all boundaries all language barriers and is probably one of the few universal language in the world, that can be in tune with humanity, touching the very aspects of the soul and can at times define the artist alone without anywords of pictures, if a picture is worth a thousand words, i say music from an artist is worth unimaginably more than words alone could ever express Very Happy

and now i think we in a revolutionary phase, after all these yrs, we starting to see the potential, but problems is that in the early stages, whats just started has to centend with the RIAA, monopolies, and governments, yes stupid politcs where it doesnt belong again, it seems at times that the american government is lapdog to the recording industry, but its inevitable that change has been long overdue

but in the meantime, we need the recording comanies to survive, hell right now there isnt much choice, and i think ivibes in particular have made a longsighted and well thought out plan, that is out of the reach of the grubby hands,

but when that day comes, when music becomes what it always was destined to become! where artist are aptly rewarded for there work, and at the same time the opertunity is availble for all artists to promote there work widely and effectively, and where the artists dictate how there work is percieved and hae total control over there work, free without any restraints

ivibes will be here to embrace and support that day!

one problem, possibly just related to ths genre.

Not enough material released on CD, with such things as promos and new trance tunes, its the vinyl that it goes to first and not everyone has a set of decks, expense porlly the main reason.

For me persoannly, there are some tunes that you can only get on mp3 because you just can't find anywhere to buy them.

I used to use m.phase quite alot. Then they changed the site around and it blew my browsers mind! Laughing Shame to see another site closing down though. From all the sites that are listed on Trancegate their are very few that are actually updated and have working links. Sad No wonder Audiogalaxy is sooo popular.

One more thing, id just like to say a big well done to the mods for not locking this topic and actually participating themselves. I hope in future you can take time to do what you have done here & edit what you need to keep topics like this unlocked. Very Happy

That's Ok Dave, We do want a good discussion on topics, but sometimes we are bound by what we have to do, but like this one, its a good one to turn into an actual discussion, Sometimes Editing leaves nothign to talk about though, especially if url's to such sites are included, we have to remove them all, but we're only doing a job here, so thanks for being understanding Smile
