Post Post subject: Ministry... Your taking the pi$$! Reply with quote

Has anyone noticed how many albums Ministry Of Sound have been churning out this year? I remember the days when you got an Annual every xmas, a Dance Nation in the summer. Simple as that. The albums were so good & meaty back then that it took you 6 months to get em out of your stereo...

Its only May and ive counted 10 complilations (so far)... 'The Clubbers Guide To Ibiza Parts 1&2' will be out soon (one for the start of the season, one for the end, no im not kidding) and the 'Ibiza Annual' (i own a few, they used to be good). Along with yet another 'Chilled' title and probley another dissapointing 'Trance Nation'. From 1995-2000 i collected the Dance Nation/Trance Nation & Annuals religiously. Now the MOS trademark just stands for Commercial Sellout.

Just to prove my point, heres the albums i can remember from this year, i bet theres more, so please, post them here. Theres must be more than 10!... thats one every 2 weeks! Surprised

21st Century Disco
The Annual 2002
Clubbers Guide To Breaks
Dance Nation 2002
Trance Nation 2002
The Spring Anuual 2002
Karma Collection II
Defected Sessions Volum 14
Back To The Old Skool [Hip Hop]
Back To The Old Skool [Ibiza]

the label seems to get worst than ever, Trance nation which is suppose to be one of their best compilation years ago now is bringing us the most commercial nonsense music. Hopefully now i can look at the tracklisting and judge the compilation, instead of giving us something fresh and interesting and underground tunes, keeps recycling the same old awefull cheesy tracks and calls it a new compilation, of course by doing this they will release more than other labels.

Also some are pretty damn good like Trance Nation America mixed by Tylor and Jimmy van m, that was an awesome double mixed cd everyone must own. Neutral

for some reason the ppl in power think we like listening to comnmercial pants... Razz

it shows by the selection of tunes on the CD's... cos if there were gonna do an old skool CD.. would the best idea not to be to create a hardcore / happy hardcore CD.. not shitty early 90's commercial b01locks ??? and why when they have ferry or whoever making trance nations do they not let him put songs in that he'd be playing when out and about round europe when playing @ gatecrasher, TE, Cream e.t.c..

also.. the radio station i listen to "galaxy 105" used to play for 4 hours every evening what ud expect to hear in a good club.. upfront trance and hard house.. BRILLIANT.. but.. the ppl in charge thort.. NO NO NO.. this is not what the listeners want... they want commercial music threw them 4 hours.. ASWELL as the commercial shite thats played 9-6 threw the day.. WTF !!! Twisted Evil

.. im sorry.. but both examples show that the guys in power think we all love commercial dance !! Rolling Eyes

This is soooo true! I wonder what went thru his mind when they handed him the tracklisting? He must of thought "FCUK ME! IVE STEPPED INTO A TIME WARP!!!, I SWEAR ALL THESE TUNES ARE OVER A YEAR OLD!" the poor guy, fair enuff, he got paid a big wedge for mixing that album, but its a bit embarrasing having your good name linked with that & them!!!! I'd be ashamed to put my name to them tunes... They really are becomming bastardish in their ways. The tripe we're expected to buy, no wonder ppl are using alternative means of getting music, We should have more choice to buy and less cheese, they should take a leaf out of ID&Ts releases, good quality stuff

Like you said before Ian its all money orientated, thats the reason why mr corsten did the mix, stone cold cash, and you [like me] would too. Rolling Eyes shame really, it would of been better if he did it because Ministry were a top label & club on top of their game, with quality trance albums under their belt [but that was a fair few years ago] so maybe he'll think twice next time... Confused

they churn out so many CD's cos there run by money grabbing accountants, i mena they even do there own mini hifis and headphones!!!

what kind of muppet buys it? ive never in my life heard them make a good CD, there made by mixing software, the tracks are always old, chart rubbish or the poor mixes and they always sign the name of some money grabbing DJ to it.

if you have one of there CD's you should be disgusted with yourself, there are so many quality CD's out there, like the blackhole series, trancemaster compilations and the many mix and compilations from zyx like sunshine radio for example. but these cd's arnt after money, thats why there not real popular, cos there not getting stuck infront of you with posters and adverts and other fancy crap.

some should take MOS out, id do it i had some explosives Mad

do not buy MOS or Tiday Traxx or Nukleuz. the people who buy this are the ones who will destroy this music thats so great.

huh, i think the question is not that they always been shit, more of, ppl are disapointed in the direction they have headed

no one, cannot say, mos has always sucked, early on, they were damn influencial in bring the trance scene to where it probably is,some of there earlier cds are sweet, how many ppl remeber first time they heard trancenation 1, or northern exposure 1 or some of the earlier cds landmark cds.

and i pretty much never hold it against an artist, when his pieces of work get abused, as once he's signed his work over that it, what the label does, pretty much upto them..

and i dunno where i read it, probably this thread or some other post on this board, where someone mentioned, that maybe MOS is doing this as its grown too big for its shoes, and that the club side of it, cant really support the whole mess that is MOS, so there making money to support its self, with all these cds,

question is, is the a indication, what might happen to other clubs, gatecrasher.. and so on?

id already been listening to trance for many years before trance nation was ever released, ie been part of the trance scene since go, you have to remember trance is a lot older that you think going back to the early techno days, this is when the music was underground. to me all ive seen is MOS destroy what the scene was proir to trance nation 1, plus when this came out id did not have good tunes on it, maybe good if you where new to trance, but to those within the scene it was rubbish, as you been absorbed into the scene you have begun to notice this as have others which is why i say MOS has been crap from day one, it just might not seem like it.
