If u've seen the suggestions area, we're looking to do a massive database of all the trance tunes we can get, with labels and years too.

What I need from all of you is for you to take ur winamp playlist and save it as html file with the whole list, then please DON'T POST IT HERE, but E-mail it to me -
EDIT- PLZ MAIL LISTS TO eidurfan@btinternet.com please
I'll sort it out, and I'll need 2 or 3 people to help with diff bits, basically a-g could be me ... and the rest of the alphabet taken afterwards. so if ur interested, post here. and we'll sort out what we can, then we'll work out the other details like years etc, but for now lets get as many tunes as we can, remixes included, and try to make this the most concise database of trance online, if it works we can do house/hardhouse/ambient/anything like that if ppl into that wanna do it now tho feel free, just let us know. it'll take time tho, so ppl be patient, and lets hope its fun for forum members. Very Happy

Why you want to do that ???
if its to create a new sharing group like BMI, SND and all those...
then its a good idea... But we'll need a HUGE harddrive to store them all and at least a T1 connection for transfering...
but if its only to see what year a specific track was released.. then its no use

so i'm don'T know really what you are planning to do.. please tell me some about that...

no mate, this has nothing to do with hosting tunes, it's to get tunes and remixes then we can add to what we've got, and make a database of as many tunes as possible for ppl to browse, find all the tune say vincent de moor has done in one click, aliases & all

This will be a supplement to all the discographies you find in our artist-profiles section....with many more artists than we are able to write a full profile about.

Remember to include all those tracks allready in our discographies, ferrycorstenfan Smile

a good idea, i'll compile my playlist shortly after ive finished this post Very Happy , if it works out the way ferrycorstenfan is planing it to be, it should be a nice resource!

just one thing, i've had few ppl on msn messenger, asking me how to do a winamp html exported playlisting over the past few days, even before this thread was started, and just in case there are any of you that dont know how to do one yet, i'll post instructions here on how to do one

How to make a HTML generated winamp playlist

1) Firstly if your using any winamp skins, its gonna be helpful to change back to the base skin, by pressing Alt-S together, and selecting Base skin in the skin chooser window, as often the playlist option buttons, can be masked by a skin making, the task a little bit more difficult

2) There should have a playlist editor window, open underneath the equalizer window, in winamp, if it isn't there press Alt-E to open it

3) you now need to add music files to the playlist window, theres 2 main ways to do it, by dragging the music files from a window, or windows explorer pane to the playlist window, or by using winamp playlist itself to select the music files

4)To use winamp to add music files you, need to press that grey ADD button at the bottom of the winamp playlist window, a small menu should appear, if you press the Add files button, a explorer file selection pane should open and you can browse and add invidual/multiple selceted music files, or by using the Add dir button instead you can add directories contain music files that you want to appear in the winamp playlist window

5)once you've added all the music files off your Hard Drives /CD's, and there all present in the winamp playlist window, press the 3 grey button SEL at the bottom of winamp playlist, and chose sel all, you should've have selected all the files in the winamp playlist

6)after thats been done, press the fourth gray button MISC and select Sort list, and then "Sort list by Title" should sort out the list to make it easier to work with

7)time to make the html playlist, press the misc button, then the misc options , and goto generate HTML playlist , or press Crtl-Alt-G togther and you should get an internet explorer window with the playlist generated

Cool where it says right click here to save, in the html playlist, right click on the link and choose save target as, and pick a file name/directory to save the playlist to and your dun

9) now you just need to email it to ferrycorstenfan at the email given in the first post Very Happy Very Happy

Great Work so far, and thanks to tranceseeker & Timegateuk for sending over their lists, plus FJBR who I spoke to last night about it.

Andy I'll take up ur offer, and if ne1 else wants to, let me know, and as soon as we've got the lists in, I'll split it into however many bits we need, and we can get going, removing duplicates etc.... Hopefully I'll be producing a database later on Access 97 (Yes im on old software Razz ) unless everyone else is on something newer, where I'll get hold of it myself, and make a template, so if poss you can all open it up, and input ur data, it could take a while, and im unsure whether to keep some of the older stuff like 2 unlimited *looks @ tranceseeker* in for now, but we'll soon know, depends how many tunes we're working with.

Keep the lists coming in though, and Tim, if u got a winamp list u could spend a couple of minutes doing & sending, that'd be great, especially with your love of progressive, we might get some more of the stuff in there since lists from me & andy and a few others may be mainly uplifting or harder trance Smile

too add to my last post... credit for thoughts imy.... go here http://www.ivibes.nu/board/viewtopic.php?t=2327 Very Happy

What I'd like to be able to do is make a search facility for it, tho I know no programming, so if ne1 could maybe help, so for example u can find every tune from 1997, or any Svenson & Gielen Remix, or any tune from 1999 that's by System F, so ppl can easily narrow down the searches, quickly and accurately, there's gonna be a hell of a lot of tunes in it, so expecting someone to find something from that much will be asking too much for some. Firstly We'll get the tunes though, then we'll worry about years and labels after, cos we can easily add those as we go.

And Andy, as u usually say.... yes I'm up rather early, amazing what u do when u got a lil pup who decides it's morning, which technically it is, but in my books shouldn't start till 11am-ish Laughing

No Andy, basically I'll be splitting the list up, and if i send out a copy of the database, then if u can input, full details might not be known for a start, but we can work on them later Smile I'll sort the lists, and once we got the final no. of ppl whos involved in it, I'll split the list and then if poss if u can input it into the d-base, if u know label/year then all well & good, but they will come in time, Rome wasn't built in a day Laughing

well, in ceaser 3/simcity3000, i kinda made my own rome in less than a day! then the incessant protesting about taxes started Sad thats when i kinda stoped

ok, we do have access to the ivibes discography, stream has kinda said it maybe we should clarify it and ask stream (even thos hes kinda said it in this thread) that we can use the production/remix discography, in anyway, for this purpose alone!

so phase 1 gathering winamp playlists and making a prelimanary list is underway now, cool!

ppl, keep posting more winamp playlists when ever you get the opertunity, this project is done by the members/users of the ivibes community for the members/users of ivibes, you'll be helping yourself! Very Happy
