As artists in their own right, Sue McLaren and Suzanne Chesterton have covered a good deal of stylistic ground.
However, as Siskin, they’ve shaped, focused and honed that into their artistic quintessence … And what’s more they’ve done it all in a little over 12 months, and - as of today - 7 singles.
So complete and well-defined is that sound, that it would be almost indecent to wonder if the bar can be raised! Judge for yourself as, after ‘Nobody Loves Me’ and its thematic expansion ‘Piece Of My Love’, Siskin sign off their ‘Seratonin EP’ with ‘Always You’.
Naturally, ‘Always’ is every bit as production-rich and infinitesimally blissed-out as Siskin’s six previous for Black Hole. Every listen after your first though brings its subtle sub-tone that much closer to the sonic fore. Behind the warmly wistful feel of its vocals and ‘Always You’s sanguine title lies its true meaning, which is lyrically related in a laid-bare, openhanded manner. Mirroring it, its production also shifts almost imperceptibly from the trance left-foot to the progressive right. Its percussion and bass emphasis expands, bringing with it a track you could happily (and hypnotically!) listen to on-loop all day long.
Combining forces to become a sum greater than their parts, Siskin deliver their supremely immersive and endlessly replayable ‘Always You’ today. Find it through all good sales and streaming platforms here.
