 Experience the live rendition of Underworld’s iconic recording ‘Rez’ as Rick from the group talks about its production and offers a free download of their live set from the Reading festival back in 1996…
When you think of legendary dance acts one name that must come up in the conversation is Underworld. Digging a little into the history of this two man group they started the Underworld project all the way back in 1987. That would make them 33 years in the business as Underworld. They had a couple of early albums in the late 80’s but it was not until the early 90’s when they moved into the electronic dance styles that they really took off.
Before the legendary Born Slippy was even an idea one early track Underworld put together was called ‘Rez’ which featured some quite unique sounds. How these sounds were created is talked about a little by one half of the duo Rick Smith who shows off the hardware used to create the music. It’s a long way away from the computer based design of tracks we have today; those early tunes were created by machines the size of an average family dinner table.
As a special bonus to the Underworld fans you can download for free a live set they performed at the Reading festival back in 1996.
